My wife tried to clean my clock.

And...….she dropped it.
We are not on speaking terms at the moment.

Read your bio-line. The answer to this situation is
entwined within it.
It's "off center" strike
Pretty rare indeed; I'd be speaking to her with affection if I were you
Unfortunate, but remember that it will cost far far more to replace the Wife than it will be to replace the clock. Soldier on...

We're good.
Actually we almost passed out from laughing so hard because I couldn't keep a straight face trying to accuse her of always hating that thing and doing it on purpose.

Wow -- you are very fortunate to have a wife that allows such fugly things to be displayed...sorry...I couldn't even hang that in my office...
Jealousy will get you nowhere but lucky for you there may be a scratch and dent sale on it.
Just in time for Christmas.
It is actually so hideous that it almost comes back around to being cool. I said almost.

I never seen a clock like that so I would put it up in my Hawaiian living room any day of the week
Thank you for sharing SparkySpark
Looks like you might have a buyer/taker there @sparky64 -- or at least "a better place". With any luck she'll cover shipping if nothing else! It's a win-win-win for both you and your wife and PF!
LIBERATION AT LAST
Might even get you some...
Use the situation to your advantage and buy another coin. Something nice this time.
......... some aloha
You just have to change your way of thinking. 6 O'clock is now technically 6:30... and yes, this is post mint damage.
If you, @Paradisefound, put that object up in your
living room your new id would be Paradiselost.
Yikes, but let it go, far costlier to replace a wife !!!
You broke time !
Two things come to mind.
1. The Leg Lamp in "A Christmas Story".
2. You KNOW it's YOUR fault. If you had kept it clean yourself this would have never happened.
Switch from daylight savings is never easy.
I'm in this camp. I would have scrapped that thing when 90% was at 30X !
Where are you hiding the matching clock with the coins from the western US? 😀
Truer words have never been spoken!!
Thank your wife for saving you from yourself. Close second for the singing bass plaque from years ago🙂
A little duck tape will fix it up as good as new.
I bet you've got a nice watch too!
I do as a matter of fact.
It's part of a set that matches my mood ring.
When I'm not wearing it, I keep it right next to my lava lamp.

Looks like an easy repair....Glad to hear it did not cause a marital crisis...
Actually, a nice clock for a collector's man cave though....
Cheers, RickO
Got this in the early 70s IIRC. Looks like if you remove your wood trim, you should be able to effect repairs.
At least yours live through the great run up on silver.....mine didn't.

This would not be the first time that a wife "accidentally" broke the husband's prized knick-knack.
You're going to have to go to a craft store and buy a clock kit, make your own coin clock with really nice coins! Maybe use some mercury dimes and some morgans.....just an idea!
You could do a new clock with coins dated 1901-1912 with each year as the hour. 1801-1812 if you like a challenge...
Or one with state quarters - Delaware is one o'clock, PA 2 o'clock, etc.
I guess that might be better then taking a fry pan to you ( as much as might have felt better at this time ) just saying
Aww........it ain't that bad!
Kinda reminds me of the "Christmas Story" leg lamp.
Pete
I Was just going to say, Where do you hang something like that? right next to your sexy leg lamp for all the neighbors to see
all around collector of many fine things
Hey, it's now perfect for bathroom decor...

Hey,even a broken clock is right twice a day!
If she has strong feelings about the clock, please video & share her reaction to her Christmas gift!!!

LOL. Only on CU can can you go from a coin clock to coin toilet seat. Whats next? 😂
How do you wind up a clock thread?
First thing I thought of when I opened this thread.....
Getting a "Flush" in Poker, I guess.

For the coinsumate collector
For that really fresh feeling where ever you go...
I'm so glad your wife did what I wanted to do to you years ago Sparky.
I thought the same thing. 'Tis the season!

Kind of adds "character" to the thing..... She was trying to help. Take her to dinner at someplace nice and enjoy a laugh !
After I married my wife I now have to go through the central Vac bag when I change it.
