Mine is only a bronze but it's beautiful, too. This particular medal, designed by MacNeil of standing liberty quarter fame are difficult to find regardless of the composition. I was lucky to get mine.
The high price reflects its unusually nice condition. Many of those show wear or damage from handling as they did not go to serious coin/medal collectors.
