Diamonds in the rough? Maybe...

This is kinda where I'm at in the hobby which is, these types of finds that really get me excited. Lots of possibilities but nothing guaranteed. There were some circumstances surrounding this purchase that I will not delve into for the sake of privacy and ridicule. But, suffice it to say I did not buy them online. And the seller selling some of his late fathers hoard was very busy and very gracious. Now, lets dig in and see if diamonds or very clever seller.
Guesses are completely invited as I'm sure a few of these will make their way to Californy

Boy .... I could not wait to see the reveal. How excited it is for you opening your X-mas gift early
Very nice !!!
Really cool you still have the original mail package and also lots of pre 1964 mint sets. It’s also cool that there is a 1956 proof set. Nice collection 👍
Your 1956 proof half dollar has an obverse with frosted devices and mirrored fields. If the reverse looks like the obverse you may have a Cameo. If the half is a Type 1 and a Cameo you will have a coin that could have a value of hundreds and maybe thousands of dollars.
Have fun looking.
Looks to be a type 2 however, I'm really looking forward to some FS on the UC nicks or maybe some frost.
Looking forward to seeing more pics of the find.
I wish you good luck, but if you have no expectations you also will get no disappointment.
1963 mint sets are known for having "type B" quarter reverses, so that's cool but that means they're not scarce either.
1963 mint sets are also known to contain a DDO quarter; sometimes this obverse die is paired with a DDR (FS-102.)
As I said, I wish you luck, but I tend to be cynical.
The original mint mailers can be opened and then resealed.
This is going to be fun. Cannot wait to see more pics.
I hope you find a Type 1 Franklin in that 1956 Proof Set!! It's always fun to roll the dice a bit.
Good luck with the hunt!
Scare is good in this case ...... stay Scare and let us see what you see
Good luck. If you find any winners please show them.
That will be a lot of fun.... Check the '64 sets for the AH Kennedy... They are out there....Cheers, RickO
There's also a really nice doubled die reverse that can be found on the cent in that 1956 set, along with a quarter with die damage on the reverse. Also, check for the accented hair half in the '64 proof set, and nice doubled dies can be found on almost every denomination in that year.

Okay everybody, (didn't know if I needed to list all) but anyway the coins are a bit more beat up than I hoped. And apparently I still need to do some more variety checking. The Franklin might catch Cameo and the UC nick might catch FS. Some of the UC cents have very nice luster but with some carbon and whiskey dents. Mannie, I believe the 1963 25c is doubled or tripled and a couple more just look doubled or machine doubled. Please. let me know what you think!
Your '63 25c is DDO 1-O-II/DDO-001, the strongest for the year.
No kidding? Guess that one will be getting shipped soon. And its official, my first real dd...BAMM! Back on the hunt this week.
Yep, congrats.
You can find them in mint sets and they tend to go in runs.
Nice one!
How do they grade?
Some nice finds. Lot to go through, but I'll bet you had fun.
The '56 Franklin may be CAM.... Did not see any AH Kennedy's....Some nice looking coins so far. Cheers, RickO
One of the nice things about that particular doubled die is that the ones found in Mint sets are all early die states, with crystal clear doubling.
I agree; you can see the die polish lines on his coins to the left of the date and in the left fields.
Wow! What an exciting adventure. Your pics are great once you free them from the cellophane. Are you attempting to remove black carbon spots on anything? Peace Roy

@mannie gray Thank You! I never would have found it if you didn't mention it. I need to order the Cherry Pickers Guide...
You are most welcome.
I wish you continued good luck in your searches.

In deed, and now I will have to go back through the ones I bought in the past, after I get that cherry picker guide.
