Things to do during the Thursday forum outage

CoinosaurusCoinosaurus Posts: 9,645 ✭✭✭✭✭
  1. Fill out a PCGS submission form.

  2. Catch up on reading coin periodicals.

  3. Organize coin books. Debate whether books written by good authors should be placed next to books by bad authors.

  4. Find supply of chocolate coins. Eat them.

  5. Calculate best circle stacking algorithm for punching coin blanks.

  6. Stump MessyDesk by proving all numbers are prime.

Only PR and people who do not know give a definitive time when it comes to computers/technology.

The technician probably mumbled something and everyone else “heard” something else.

When was the last time your Win or Mac update took precisely 30 mins?

So I will go with 4 (chocolate) and add popcorn. Might get hungry after the 2nd hour.

I have a couple of firearms to clean and some things that need attention around the house... so...the time will go to constructive efforts. Cheers, RickO

You don't clean your guns immediately after each use? Or maybe you were already shooting this morning.

Remember, cleaning guns safely is good but there is no way to safely clean coins... :)

  • rickoricko Posts: 98,724 ✭✭✭✭✭

@CCGGG.... Clean guns are important.... and I clean my EDC's periodically even when they have not been fired. That being said, the purist view of cleaning immediately after use is not really necessary....Controlled experimentation has shown no ill effects when firearms are used over consecutive range sessions without cleaning. I do not do this unless we are running a week long course with shooting each day... then I clean at the session teaching the students how to clean a firearm and then at the end of the week. When attending a class with shooting exercises, I clean them every evening, mainly due to the need for flawless performance. Cheers, RickO

    I'll go with 6......because I don't know what a prime number is anyway. :/

My only real complaint about shooting is cleaning my firearms after each use (which I do religiously). It often takes longer to clean the guns than the actual shooting session. (Maybe I should shoot longer :) )

My coins (slabbed) on the other hand, never need to be cleaned. Well at least they never need cleaning after I get all the stupid dealers "sticky" stickers off.

OT. Interesting. I faintly recall that a certain state is wanting to add that you will need to consent to a social media and search engine history (last three years) to the background check application. Glad I am already backgound checked all over the place. Interest end. Comment end. OT end.

Back on topic. Add this to chocolate coins and popcorn.

Let's extend that to politicians. If they can't pass the firearm background check, they can't hold office. We don't need "freaks" or any other deviants writing laws for us to follow.

On a side note, I heard the legislator who proposed the NY law has a troubled (and troubling) history of his own. :#

    A song chorus by Terri Clark comes to mind;

"...I got better things to do

I could wash my car in the rain
    Change my new guitar strings
Mow the yard just the same as I did yesterday...

Check the air in my tires
    Straighten my stereo wires
Count the stars in the sky or just get on with my life..."
