You are blindfolded and spun around three times at the FUN show...

As a show promotion you cannot see, but are allowed to examine any and all slabbed coins offered at the venue. You are allowed to select and keep just one coin, courtesy of the Chamber of Commerce.

...and yes, I am out of thread ideas.
I would start in the GOLD section.
No ....... you still have tons of ideas in your head..... that I can tell you
Take your late evening jog and come back with a few
$50 Pan Pac is my choice

But you might end up with Warren Harding's ashtray
Well ....... then I will need to puff
have a friend with you who's not blindfolded and have that person help with the pick.........but on a more lucid thought.....I would go with a heavier coin- feel for weight in the hopes of landing at least a decent Morgan.
Feel around for a tray with only two or 3 coins in it. Select a rattler with a sticker.
Likely to be a pretty nice coin I'd think.
My luck it would be an Ike Dollar!
Wonder if gold and green stickers have the same feel.
Feel that OVAL trace with your fingers folks

Gold feels warmer than green.
Brilliant

A stickered PCGS Regency holder would be a good catch as it would exclude the less valuable 5 lirot coins.
or a steel penny.
My strategy is about collecting what I intend to keep, not investing in what I plan to sell.
Definitely go by weight.... Might take a bit of time.....and insist on being 'spun' in the premium table area....All trays open and turned to the aisle.... Dang I got a lot of conditions...
Cheers, RickO
I bet I would be able to tell if it was a double eagle or maybe even a $50 Pan Pac!
It would be a fun challenge.

Just don't bump into any of the graders.
No one has asked the obvious, are you allowed to ask the dealer questions about their coins?
That would sort of ruin it, but you could listen in on the chatter of others.
Take 3 steps to the right and kiss a dealer.
No?
Hmm, no wonder I quit shows.
You would be doing well if you didn’t end up with a Morgan Dollar.
Interesting thread. I like it.
ask the nearest dealer what his nicest coin is. then ask him for a thread idea
More likely I would end up with security asking why my seeing eye dog has a loupe and a gray sheet.
Feel your way over to the $10 Million 1794 Dollar exhibit and ask for the one in the display case.

Stay in the carpeted area and pick the slab that feels like it has a $50 slug in it.

I'd just kinda kick my foot until I hit a bag of Morgan dollars.
Hey
Could happen

That's what I was thinking. A $50 gold slug (either a Pan Pac commemorative or a territorial would be nice) in a PCGS slab would feel heavy in hand compared to a Morgan dollar for example.

You may end up with an America the Beautiful, silver puck.
I bet when the blindfold was removed there would be a lot of “ Crap, that’s not what I thought it was.” 🙂
Not possible since the pucks would be in the over sized slab and would weigh twice as much as the gold slug in the standard sized slab.

And the pucks wouldn't be in the carpeted area.

I'd keep searching for one of the new SS Central mega-slabs I think that's the safest route to guarantee something awesome
Ask the dealer how many coins are in their case. If the answer is one, TAKE IT!
