Jefferson Nickel Variety of the Week: 1943-S DDO-008

Jefferson Nickel Variety of the Week: 1943-S DDO-008
Maybe some of you thought the BigDowgie was out of the Jefferson Nickel Enthusiast Club........well, you were wrong! I've been out undercover, hunting those elusive Jefferson varieties.
I want to share this Jefferson for a few reasons: 1) this DDO is pretty obvious with little magnification, 2) I've been looking at War Nickels forever and have never seen one and 3) I own it after pulling it out of nicklejones' clenched fingers!
Upon checking Variety Vista website, the 1943-S has 13 documented DDO's listed in CONECA. Due to the fact I've never found a 1943-S DDO, I've never checked. Pretty amazing! Just my opinion, DDO-006, DDO-008 and DDO-013 would be the most desirable. These have the nicer spread in the doubling.
So, does anyone have one?
Happy hunting!

Some nice doubled dies can be found in the war nickels. I picked a '43-S DDO-006 a while back and it was pretty strong.
Nice to see the Big Dog in Nickels back and posting varieties. This is a nice one. Welcome back Mike!
Yeah, I like the DDO-006 the best of the three I noted earlier! I always have room in my collection for that one!
Nice pick up... I have a couple of '43 war nickels... will have to check them out... just put them aside when I got them without any scrutiny... years ago....Cheers, RickO
