"As God is My Witness, I thought Turkeys could Fly!"

abcde12345abcde12345 Posts: 3,404 ✭✭✭✭✭

President Franklin wanted the Turkey to be our national bird! He invented electicity and was featured on the "Franklin Half Dollar" along with the One Hundred Dollar Bill as a result of his good naturedness and daring. This was a first as no one ever has been on a coin plus currency at the same time.
The Liberty Bell is cracked yet still rings true!
Happy Thanksgiving to all.

The OP's title : " As God as my witness, I thought

"WKRP". The radio station was going to do a Thanksgiving
promotional giveaway. Arthur Carlson (Gordon Jump) tossed
live turkeys from a helicopter. When he got back to the
station, his clothes were torn to shreds. He faces a few employees
and says "As God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly"

And Less Nessman was reporting and said,,,,, "Oh my God,,,,, the humanity,,,,,, the turkeys are hitting the ground like bags of wet cement"

Well, Turkey Vultures fly higher but don't eat those!

An older collector friend was sharing a story the other day about a fellow who joined the phone company where he worked back in the early '70's, and was from Europe- I think Sweden? Anyway, it was this fellow's dream to shoot a Turkey, and eat it for a Thanksgiving meal. Well, he shot a Turkey, dressed it out, and ate it...unfortunately, it was a Turkey Vulture he shot, didn't know the difference, and he got deathly ill, and ended up in the hospital. Almost killed him. Poor fellow!

    Happy Thanksgiving!

Vultures eat a variety of dead animals including dead skunks, raccoon, coyote, dog, cat, and armadillo. These birds are known for their ability to make a meal out of almost anything that is dead.
A rotting dead animal is not to be turned down for eating by a vulture.

Just being told what vultures will eat after consuming some vulture would make this fellow deathly ill.

If a picture wasn't going very well I'd put a puppy dog in it, always a mongrel, you know, never one of the full bred puppies. And then I'd put a bandage on its foot... I liked it when I did it, but now I'm sick of it.

Turkey's certainly do fly... but not long, extended flights like many birds.... short hops into trees to roost for the night or to escape danger... Wild turkeys also taste significantly different to the pen/farm raised birds....Cheers, RickO
