You have found a coin with a cud...actually it looks like two cuds... quite unique... Nice find. Cheers, RickO
Nice error coin with two CUDs or in other words Die Breaks.
A searcher sent this to my attention recently. Forgot to shoot the reverse when in hand, and told him it's kinda cool, unique, but not rare... A cud, was my explanation. I like the "cuddoubled" comment above. Explains it simply, in short. (At least , for me) . What was interesting to me , on this quarter was the die crack , as well. Must have completely broken after a few more strikes.... or this could be the "Last Strike", before the die setter had to get up and do something, at the mint.
As to the OP , it looks like a double cud. Cool find from the '80's.

They worked those dies hard in the early to.mid 80s. 82 or so through 85 if I recall correctly from my nickel roll searches.
