Sorry but the only doubling I see is due to the camera moving when the photo was taken.

Interesting... My eyes are loosing focus.

  • The last pic was taken by my Son - he was a bit shaky LOL The other pic I took and i was steady as a rock.

Are you referring to the artifact running through the 1st 9? Can't tell from the pics.

Go here and tell us the comparison with your coin and what is listed for 1989-D.

  • Hemispherical, thank you so much, that's a wonderful source but I think my coin has more than doubled die or doubled machine die errors.

  • I took a few more picc's, perhaps a bit better. Have I mentioned how much I dislike my camera? LOL

Looks like ejection doubling to me.

Experts are needed for whatever is going on there.

I agree. I think I see the 8 peeking out on the other side next to the 9 and up top at the motto I can see shadows of the 'E' in WE going past the 'T' in TRUST.

Looks like a normal 1989 D Memorial Cent.

If you look at enough cents you will see tons of these.

There is what appears to be ejection doubling ... so it is not your imagination....not sure what is going on with the mint mark... could be damage, pictures still not good enough to determine that issue....Cheers, RickO

Ejection doubling it is. There are some very pronounced examples of this. Yours is one of them.

The absence of "split serifs" on the first 9 in the date would suggest this.
