Offer an “Authentication Only” service for coins under $3000. $5 a coin, same slab, no grade. It would be great for bullion, treasure coins, cheap ancients, TV promotion deals, modern issues, and anything else that doesn’t warrant the expense of currently offered services.
Authenticate and slab an ancient coin for $5 and then guarantee that it's authentic all for $5? Are you serious?

Yes, I'm serious. The details of the program would require more thought, of course. For example, Bullion coins could be capped at $3000, but ancients might be capped at only $300. And the guaranty might have limits on liability along similar lines. For PCGS, it will be the huge bulk orders that generate the meaningful revenue. They might not be so excited to get the smaller orders, but offering the service to all will help the product gain market acceptance.

I'm not saying this isn't a good idea. I'm saying they can't do it for $5 and still make a profit. How much do they charge to reslab a coin.

Regarding submissions:
-------------when will PCGS start to employ something similar to "First In/First Out" in regards to the grading room?? What is in place now makes no sense.
Find the gumption to go after the counterfeiters in CHINA. No matter that it take Congressional approval or Chinese gov't approval.......get it done now before the hobby is ruined forever.

HA submits a10,000 lot of widgets for grading,
Later @TDN & @specialist submit 12 coins worth $1/2 million dollar each.
Who’s lot is PCGS or any grading service going to grade first?

Reslabbing a coin requires the additional costs of carefully removing a coin from a slab, and it also involves assuming the risk of damage. Often, on coins of substantial value.
Now, imagine how much it would cost PCGS to slab and authenticate a bag of Morgan Dollars without grading them. I think it will come in at well under $5000. And if it doesn't, they're doing something wrong.

Mix up the 'free' gift for top tier members. I have too many PCGS shirts! An extra grading coupon, maybe a book choice or ?? would be nice. Just something different that I can choose..keep the shirt in though, they are nice.

Do you wear them? If so, where? I need to find some coin collectors to golf with, otherwise the shirt is useless (just kidding, PCGS, but something different would be nice).
They aren't Chinese counterfeits - they are fantasy coins and should be slabbed as such based on some of the logic I've seen. Everyone knows that the Morgan dollar with cartoon eyes is fake.
Edge date the holder so you know what coin it is when it's in the box.
Maybe make it a optional (add on) upcharge?
With tens of millions of slabs already out there, it's probably too late for this. However, it fhe size of the holder is ever changed so that they don't fit in the current storage boxes, adding info to the top edge of the new slabs would definitely be helpful. That way, all of the coins stored in the new boxes would be labeled.

RAISE the fee. VERY nominally. or
Initiate a new level.
With the objective to grade so stringently, by so many talented experts (there might be some on this board judging from the number of posts saying they are good enough to KNOW what will pass at CAC) ....as I was saying.... either a nominal fee for more expertise or a more time consuming level that would ....REFUND... if the coin did not pass CAC.
I know that one man can NOT be the be-all end-all arbiter of originality. That defies logic.
Edge date the holder so you know what coin it is when it's in the box.
Maybe make it a optional (add on) upcharge?
Better yet. Make 2 piece slabs. Conventional label on the rectangular part. And a ROUND inner (sorta coin-tainer) sealed center detachable portion that would....conveniently.... FIT.... in the NEW PCGS ALBUMS that would sell like hotcakes.
With, of course the slab NUMBER around the outside of the round center portion.
Still thinking if a smaller slab WOULD fit better in a "slab album." ???????? hmmmm
