I went through a phase a while back that I wanted to fill my Dansco Early Half Dollar Album with my coins, so I chose to crack out a few. I've changed my collecting style, as many of us have as we "mature" in the hobby, and I'm back to keeping them entombed for condition sake as well as resale ease. The problem with resubmitting this one coin is it changed toning shade, and went down a grade. Still XF, but trying to complete a 45 set. Bummer...................
XF45, circa 2009
XF40, circa now
And no, I did not carry it as a pocket piece! Still a nice coin, will leave it alone,

Interesting!
I prefer the top look also, but still a nice coin. REally 40/45 what is the difference on that coin?
The difference between 40 and 45 is so very subtle that distinguishing between them is opinion. There are no doubt certain nuances between the two, and a specialist of a particular series would know what they are.
That is not to say that regular collectors couldn't learn them, as evidenced by members of this forum.

Interesting ... the color change (at least in the picture) appears to be significant... I wonder how much that affected the final grade. Cheers, RickO
It looks much more to me that they were shot under different light setups, rather than any significant change in the coin's actual appearance; but we'll have to take the OP's word for it.
Is that a lamination crack on her neck?
The grade difference may just be the normal variance when submitting coins for review and may not be due to a toning change over time. TPGs grading at any given time may vary by one grading level - see the crack out artists for proof.
"Got a flaming heart, can't get my fill"
There is a “crack is wack” playground in the heart of Harlem in NYC. It was cobbled togeather by a poor community looking for something to get their kids off the streets as the entire area was crippled by a drug and an enforcement epidemic in 80s and 90s.
After reviewing your post I suspect that isn’t what you’re talking about.
