This was in my mind... what I thought would have been a short report, but actually I think it may run a bit on the long side.

Hope I don’t put anyone to sleep...
Started out on Thursday (Lisa had planned to join me but last minute changed that plan) so off I went. Started later than usual but away I went

Unfortunately instead of arriving at the beginning of dealer setting up I ran into huge traffic and arrived pretty late. Oh well. . Got there an was able to set up. This show is very well run by Ernie of EBW productions and has a nice auction as well attached to the show...Some more great news about this show which has always been one that I truly enjoy doing despite the 5-6 hours of traveling. First the hotel located adjacent to the venue last week changed over and is now a doubletree. That not only means a warm cookie at checkin but major renovations and upgrades throughout the hotel. The hotel has always been nice but now even more so.

So Thur night ends with football game on large screen in super new room.

Friday doors open at 8am and I’m hit with the very first dealer asking if I just want to buy all his inventory ... an interesting offer huge amount of material
Here’s a couple of pics

Now every show we attend we try to stick with our game plan and amazingly by 9am we were at 43% of what we had hoped we would sell.

In other words dealers were buying everything from us. Soup to nuts... no complaints but not at all what we had expected.

In fact not only sales but buys happened next blew my mind... and I would never had expected... the first truly magically buy for us was an amazing work of art it’s called “A Piece at a Time” If you want more info check posts on the forum

What a great pick up and one that we will put on display in 2019 at the FUN show. Currently insured value $25,000 and probably the most expensive modern hobo piece.

Needless to say the day was extremely busy both buying and selling. It was great to see biggest crowds ever for the show and the fact that additional dealers from all over the country were setting up.

Shoutout to my good buddy Grant from Dalton Gold and Silver who showed up as well as several Ohio dealers who must have just made the wrong turn near Chicago to end up in NH.

Now I would be amiss if I didn’t mention the work of one guy who must have put in over a thousand hours for his passion and but put on a display of material that will never get to be exhibited together again.

That man would be John Frost. This man is the force behind the Barber Coin Collecting Society and you may have seen this amazing exhibit at ANA over the summer but for the last time (because the items are going back to the family) the complete exhibit was available to see here.

Here is a link to the entire 12 case display. http://www.barbercoins.org/ANA-Exhibit-cases-2018.pdf
And here are a few pics of some of my favorite items. President Roosevelt 39 Star flag gifted to Barber. Unique in that the USAnever really had had 39 States. We went 38 to 40 states when Dakota was added but divided into 2 states as my manager Christina says Coolio

Here’s another cool item
5 pattern pieces oh please forgive the white box in the photo that is a weird reflection from the ceiling light

Sat brought even bigger attendance including a large group of scouts and all in all we werereally kept busy all day long.
Picked up this nice trade dollar

As well as so many NEWPS but I’ll finish up the report by saying I’m taking off tomorrow and attending the Jets game with a good friend. Look for me on TV in the crowd.

Trip home was a smooth ride but I do hate daylight savings as most of the trip was in the dark

Till next show Happy trails and happy hunting

PS Also delighted by the amazing response by both dealers and collectors regarding the new show Dec 16th in Mount Kisco NY
Here’s the link and hope you can join us on Sun Dec 16th as well!

@ScarsdaleCoin Nice show report. I saw that piece in the showcase while at the show. It was an interesting looking piece for sure, that reminded me of some old folk art.

I forgot to add that the show was very busy on Saturday right up until the end of lunch time. When I arrived at Gerry's table, there were a lot of people on the floor, and a lot of coins & money changing hands. Gerry sold several coins while I was looking at his inventory and going through some items I'm consigning with him. There was not much Seated material on the floor besides what Gerry had, though. It was definitely worth it for dealers to stick it out to the end, based on a steady flow of collectors coming in. Free downtown parking on Saturdays was a nice bonus, too.
