I saw @bidask get a few (and miss a few, like the beauty Argentina 8R).

I won 3 (with assistance from @MrEureka), but I’m not at liberty to post anything yet.

@pruebas I saw many Mexican patterns, maybe... :)

    Nice @bidask

By the way, be careful with the auction descriptions. Quite a few times, the cataloguer said “highest graded at NGC” or some such verbiage.

First of all, they neglected to mention any other services.

Second, NGC has had quite a bit of grade-flation over the last few years, so an older-graded 63 might be nicer than this year’s 64.

Third, they missed some coins (which may not have been in the census correctly).

And finally, occasionally they were simply wrong. See lot 1166 for an example. They said “far superior to the other examples that have been on the market in the past few years.” My example (ex-Norweb, ex-Rudman) is much nicer (though with a bit of sea salvage roughness) and came from an HA auction in 2016.

I really wanted that Argentina 8 reales !

Wonder what Mr Eureka thought of it ?

I never saw the coins in hand. The picture and description seemed nice .

I was the under underbidder . Were you at the auction? Had you seen this coin in hand ?

I saw the coin a few weeks ago at the USMex show in AZ. Nice coin but I did not bid on it.

@pruebas yes, I learned that lesson a while ago... Yet I do not think the grade-flation is exclusive of NGC.

I was overbid on the 1772 pillar dollar by, if the bidder name can be trusted, Patrick Tan.

Glad to see the 1815 Argentina 8R go for $15k. I own a 64+ Argentina 8R though an 1836 which is more toned vs the satiny white example at Sedwick.

I am not focusing on the Americas - but there were a couple very colorful Reales that I was interested in. Like this one:
    https://www.sixbid.com/browse.html?auction=5336&category=167993&lot=4452531

Anyone see these in person? Anyone bring one home?

    My current "Box of 20"
