My first pawn shop CC Morgan finds

Nothing too special here but I did manage to find my first CC Morgans at a pawn shop. Priced at $20 a piece it was a no brainer. I have been looking for over 2 years trying to find a CC Morgan at a pawn shop. I found two at one! 1890 CC, now of course they are thoroughly cleaned but nonetheless I am happy about finally finding them. I think they'd grade out at VF Details Cleaned, which I am considering doing purely because it was my first CC find at a pawn and I have a decent graded pawn shop collection going.

    The only thing my pawn shop has is tools but they would buy silver, not that I'd ever sell to them

    Wow, well never thought they could be fake. They both weigh 26.5 grams but they aren't magnetic and sound like silver. I will have a coin shop looks at them to see. I have come across some obvious fakes before but these looked good to me at the pawn shop, given it was dimly lit and I didn't have a loupe.

    Get a Strong neodymium magnet, 90% silver doesn't stick BUT will have some movement where brass will not.

    Cleanings can make coins look odd for sure. I think they are the real deal.

    I sure hope they are real! I will let you guys know when I get them to my coin dealer and see what they say. Worst that can happen is I paid $40 for a good learning experience.

    They do not jump out as fakes... though I am concerned about the first one... the CC does not look right....Have them checked and let us know.....By the way, not sure a coin shop will be the best authority... though some are pretty good...Cheers, RickO

    Showed them to a coin buddy of mine and they are right at 90% silver on a composition tester. They should be real and if they aren't I got silver regardless. May send them in to be authenticated if a friend of mine is doing a bulk shipment soon. Would be cool to have my first CC Morgans encapsulated regardless of the grade or cleaning.

    I don't see a problem with authenticity. The first one looks more heavily abused. Be aware that for a bulk shipment, I don't think you can get details coins encapsulated. You might want to have your friend check this.

    That’s a fantastic score but it makes no sense to grade them as there is zippy price spread between grades and if they get a details grade they are worth potentially less than raw. Why kill your profit margin?
