PCGS prompt service continues...the stars are still aligned (TrueView images added)

I sent in some coins to be TrueViewed and one for Variety Attribution late last week and my order was received on 30 Oct. Yesterday I received a courtesy email asking if I wanted the requested variety attribution, an additional $18 would be required. I started to reply to the email and I deleted it and just made a phone to Customer Service. I stated to the representative that since it was a major variety, the attribution fee was not required, to my understanding. She said that she would have to confer with another on this (hold please)...she came back with confirmation that the fee would not be required for major varieties, only minor ones. I checked in on the order later that day and the attribution (PCGS # 4342) was complete and my PCGS agreed with my attribution (yea!). I am just waiting for the TrueViews to be taken...of course I will share the images.
Keep up the great work PCGS!

Neat variety and great grade!
Excellent! I've got an economy sub ready to go. I might also try out the reconsideration special before it expires.

Great throughput time.... seems many members are commenting on the fast service lately... Cheers, RickO
Congratulations and thank you PCGS !!!
Sorry to disagree. Customers should not have to know more about the business than customer service employees. Better training is needed.
Lance.
My order has been listed as "shipped" as of this morning...TrueViews are soon to post.

Our last economy took 6 days. I think there is a message in there somewhere.
I wonder how much faster express service could be.
Here are the TrueViews;

I hope that my grades will pop up this week.
Beautiful examples.
The 1849/6 is a ridiculous variety, so minor imho. Need overlays to prove what it is and then a high powered electron microscope to make sure it is what one thinks its supposed to be, in the end nobody cares.
One of the things I had been annoyed with in the past was the amount of time to go from seeing it received according to USPS tracking and seeing the order marked as received on the PCGS site. Took a couple months once, but usually it was a week. This time, next day! If this is a sign of a process fixed, then kudos.

Received 25 Nov by PCGS for recon-express service...
No word yet.
I'm about going out of my mind because it's the biggest cherry pick coin of my life.
My Saint Set
The 1920 saint has turned into an unhealthy obsession for me.

Yes, very efficient. If only the PCGS workers were put to work on our huge social problems, I'm sure we would be a lot better off.
@oih82w8 So, what if it was a minor variety you sent in and you did not know and just sent it in. Would they call then or would it just get graded with no attribution? And wait to get cherry picked another day...
Nice gold by the way
I'm all played out for now.
They aren't that expensive as coins go but finding a nice looking one is supremely frustrating.
That one in the Fox collection looks like it could be a 3rd gem.
Or you could just hit the easy-button and buy a 1920-S

Actually this 1849/Far 6 V-2 is easy to attribute from the reverse die crack pattern, even on low grade coins.

You are correct that seeing the actual under digits is difficult unless it is an early die state example.
The early die state examples are pretty cool to look at, but also quite scarce and expensive.
Collectors working on a LS Half Dime Variety registry set do care about getting correct attribution, as it's needed to show up in the set....
Knowing whether a coin is a "major" or "Die Varieties" (cherry-picker varieties) is a matter of looking in PCGS CoinFacts. PCGC charges an additional $18 for non-major varieties, including minor ones (DDO, DDR, MPD, RPM, etc...). Whereas "major" varieties do not require the additional fee.

I never understood why it took forever to get a coin graded. Intuitively, it seems logical to me that faster grading results in more submissions and quicker payment.
I realize that but again, If I send one in unaware for whatever reason. Will they give it the attribution? So, I guess the answer is yes, and they will call me for the additional charge.
PCGS will not attribute varieties without the submitter requesting it. If it is not requested, they won't do it on their own. The submitter could request variety attribution and pay $18 per item. The submitter needs to know what they are sending in for whatever service.

@oih82w8 Okay, thanks for clarifying. I won't have to think about it too much on my next order as they will just be proof coins. Maybe, I could request DCAM for all
Beautiful group of coins @oih82w8! I especially love the 1871 Seated Dollar - great color!
