1938 NICKEL
I happen to run into a nice find while coin roll hunting. A 1938 nickel that seems to be in exceptional condition. By taking a quick glance, does anything think it’s worthy of getting evaluated?

No photo shows. Regardless, unless the coin is a high end uncirculated example it is just worth 5 cents. Very few collectors care about circulated Jefferson nickels anymore. I found a problem free VF-XF 1938 nickel in circulation about a month ago. I thought about how unusual it was to find an 80 year old coin like that in circulation ... I then promptly spent it.

A more clear close picture would show if there is a variety on this coin. Based on condition I would say there is little to no premium on this coin, unless a ddo qdo.
It also looks like the obverse was improperly cleaned at some time.0 -
I agree that the obverse appears to have been cleaned. Unless it is some sort of variety it is just going to worth face value.

Leo, got a $200 bag of nickels that haven’t been touched since 2013. We’ll see if there’s anything interesting.

Good luck and happy hunting. Keep an eye out for old blackened looking nickels. 1942-1945 are made of 35% silver and have a large P, D, or S over the roof of Monticello on the reverse. They usually look almost black or dark grey when circulated. Worth about 0.80 cents each in silver currently.
