Taking some misc rolls of cents thru quarters to dump at the bank.
Just a few unc "string & sons" state quarter rolls left that I am holding back, pending confirmation that they won't fetch me much more than $10 apiece these days (if anyone even still wants them).
Should I hold onto any of the rolls listed below?
I have 2 rolls each of all but the last 2 and have included what I believe are their listed retail value from a Nov '17 article.

Check with Scott (MsMorrisone) as. at one point, he put a slight premium on some.
Other than that, as one past trading partner to another, I did similar to what you are doing...about 5+ years ago. I think I will likely do another round to the bank at some point soon as well......SHQs that I kept around, as well as some nickel rolls, and even some cent rolls.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
I busted open a few old rolls of cents I had since I was a youngster, too (1967, 1972, 1973, & 1974). Lots of shiny new ones in them, but nothing worth wading thru, as far as I can tell...... just taking up space. Some folks will get a kick out of finding them one day, however.
One of my best friends proudly states that he has the heaviest safe deposit box at his small local bank. When I asked him what is in the box he told me state quarter rolls from the bank. He also has a full size safe at his house full of the rolls as well. I keep telling him to cash them in at the casino or the bank but he keeps holding on to them. I wonder how many people are out there like him. Personally, I would just cash them in if it was me.
And, for a lot of people, that is the thing.....they will be like 1964 kennedy half dollars, 1976 halves/quarters, etc.....heavily saved by the average folk and minted in YUGE! quantities.
That was part of my reasoning when I started letting some go.
I did keep some, as it may be fun for my son, or his children in the WAYYYYY future (he is still in high school, so hopefully that will be awhile down the line), to just open some rolls of "new" old coins, that don't have a large cost basis that will be lost when opened. However, we will probably move at least once more before then, so I don't want too many and, having that money locked up for no reasoning other than that, just makes it a bad decision to keep more than a few rolls.
They will NEVER be rare. They will ALWAYS be available in large quantities in high grades and, they will never command much of a premium.

Been there too. Most state quarter rolls have so little premium I figured I was basically selling at cost after including postage, packaging, and fees -- not to mention my labor. I was better off hauling them to the local Coinstar machine and BAM! got over $750 in "credit" at Lowes (no fees).
It's all about the postage. For example, I have a use for PA and KY and maybe a couple others, but the overall premium gets to be too high when shipping is added....
I did pick up a few mint rolls at one point and put them away.... then, a couple years ago, I saw them languishing in a dark corner.... realized they would never be worth anything over face, and just cashed them in at the credit union. Cheers, RickO
I turned them in this morning, but not before opening each roll so I could dump them into the bank's counting machine. I figured that MIGHT be the best way to get nice single specimens out there for YN's to find in change & get excited about, rather than someone at the bank or Wells Fargo, etc make a profit off of them...........
I just couldn't see my boys hauling them around from place to place for such small returns somewhere down the line, and decided to save them the effort.
I'll buy them some nice silver or investments with the money...........
I just hated to part with them after all the time & effort (and extra money paid) to get them from banks or the Fed, or to trade for or buy some of them, but it's "sunk" money........
I normally stay in the background . . . but my State Quarter assemblage is howling to be revealed . . .
I now use mine primarily to wash and vacuum my truck. I keep a bag of them under the passenger seat and they motivate me to keep the F-150 clean.
I was fortunate enough to have a father-in-law who, being retired, could travel to 7-8 of the local banks and get rolls as they came out. He was relentless. End result? We never stopped until we had a minimum of 10 P & D rolls of EACH state (plus one bank box --$500-- of the New Jerseys back when they were showing a price of $35 a roll. I bought 6 boxes of the 'Numis Square Tubes' and dropped most in there. . . .supplemented with the plastic wrapped rolls or paper wrapped Loomis.
I also want to saddle up a claim to the heaviest safe. Figure a minimum of 20 rolls per state (10 P & D ea.) with a few others at 15-18 rolls, and that box of NJ . . . . . .do the math!
Wanna know how many quarters I am sitting on???
I will have the cleanest truck in the USA for the next 73 years.

How about the 2005 - 2010 years of mint sets being satin finish? Might some of those years of business strikes be worthwhile in the long run since they were all released like 1982 1983?

I foolishly bought some 04-05-06 Nickel rolls from the mint and am now finally spending them
Fun read. I recently bought a large collection (several hundred dollars worth) of fresh from the mint presidential dollars on ebay. I normally wouldn't touch them, but they sold UNDER face value, shipping included. Crazy. That seller was probably kicking himself later, lol.
I picked up several of the Alaska rolls from the bank when they were released. I when through them and picked out the best of the pile and submitted the top two. Spent the rest. I am sure glad I did not get all wrapped up like some of you guys did. Actually, I think it was the state quarters that turned me off of collecting moderns.
What is the happenings of the uncirculated S mint quarters? I have not heard anything about those "low mintage" items in a very long time?
I have an impressive stash of nickel rolls from around 1985 (I think) to 2003. lol. Talk about not knowing what to do!
