I like it!
VF details, net Fine 15?
Nice color and decent surfaces, very minor corrosion and edge bump.
Liberty: Parent of Science & Industry
Not sure about the corrosion. Looks like minor corrosion except the center of the reverse looks spectacular. If the entire coin looked like that it would be PQ. Maybe a planchet issue. I'll wait for other opinions too. The edge issue also looks like a clipped planchet rather than a bump.
Nice coin.
S-243 is correct. Cool die marriage. And an early one, without the obverse die crack and cud.
The obverse looks like it suffered minor corrosion. Nothing near fatal. Pretty nice surfaces over all.
I like it. Interesting that this 1803 was minted before the 1802 S.241 which shares the same reverse.
Lance.
With the extra bit of an "S" and the extra fraction bar, an interesting variety. Nice one.
Smitten with DBLCs.
That is a very nice cent.... the reverse anomalies are really intriguing. Cheers, RickO
Ahhh!! Thanks!! This clears up a lot of confusion. In looking at the early history of minted coins, it's amazing what they did to hold down operational costs. Recycling dies and planchet makes for interesting die marriages.... thanks again!!
I liked the overall details of this piece, but as others have noted, the corrosion had me bugged. It's nowhere near terminal as others suggested. I'll try to get better images to capture the details. There is hair detail that gets washed out in my images... I'm still learning!
Thanks again, eveeyone... Leo
