Can someone please tell me if this is in fact a double die. The letters (OF and AME) slightly below "OF AMERICA" are raised. But every time I think I have found a double die I have been wrong lol. Thank you for any input.
are raised. Thank you!
It's a damaged coin, but my question would be how the doubled lettering showed up. If it were somehow a result of being struck twice at the mint, it would be referred to as a double strike, not a doubled die, as the die itself is not doubled. It could also be a faked error. Need a better look at the whole coin, both sides.
I finally got some better pics. I hope they help. I can see OF AM and a little bit of ER, in " United States of America" slightly below and left of it. Unfortunately I found it with the rimshot edge already there.🙁

Close ups are great but also post a pic of the front and back of the whole coin. Rim shot if that's involved as well.
Can't tell crap from your pics.

Pics are worthless.

I do see lettering just above his head and then letters above that. As already said, need better pics.

Your coin is damaged.
looks like pmd to me as well, jmo
Whatever damaged your coin likely created whatever it is that you think you see.
