    I assume he had objections to the new President (Andrew Johnson) or his policies. Any further information regarding his specific concerns?? Cheers, RickO

    He was reappointed by Grant in May of 1869..

    I bought this a few years ago... It tells some of the story. The check below was singed by Pollack between his terms as Mint Director. Kinda cool!

    Note also that a revenue stamp was required for many kinds of financial transactions.
