Have you ever imaged a coin for sale, then decide not to sell it because of the image?

I was going to sell this coin but changed my mind after I saw my photo of it and looked at it again in hand. It is only a PCGS 63, but I think it looks too damn nice to sell! (I don't have any in a higher grade either, but might not sell even if I did).

I have many times. My photo skills could kill any coins final price.

No, when I'm taking the pictures to sell an item, that puppy is headed out the door.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Yep. I've had that experience with many collectibles, not just coins. Sometimes, because I am very visual, I think the imaging causes me to refocus on the item and reconnect with I wanted it in the first place.

By the way, @BillJones, I sure wish I had your backbone! LOL It would make my collecting decisions a LOT easier :)

I photograph all of my coins when I get them.... so I haven't run into this exact problem.

It's a nice enough 26-S (I like it), but it appears to be accurately graded and many potential buyers would find eye appeal to be lacking.

If you are selling to free up funds for a better one, go for it!

If you are selling for no particular reason, keep it. There's nothing wrong with it.

If you like it.... that's all that matters.

Great shot. But you can have that fantastic picture now and sell if you want.

    Best place to buy !

Almost every time. If I love the pic, I can't part with the coin. They go hand in hand.

I am different. If the coin images how I see it and I really like it, I can't sell. If I can't image the coin, even if beautiful in hand but the image is trash, away she goes.

Not only is that a great image, its a very nice 26-S. I love these coins so much that I backed away from hacked up uncs and built a cool Dansco AU set. Just bought my 26-S very reasonable in AU holder at Great Collections couple weeks ago.

    No.

I have, however, more often than not, adjusted my price (up or down) based on the high-resolution image.

Well it's only an $80 or so coin, so I like the coin better than the $80 B) I really like the steel gray patina, but, yeah, that may not appeal to everyone. At least it is not toned "dark" which seems worse than hairlines nowawdays! :D

If it was my coin I would do a quick dip and maybe
    bring out some hidden luster.

I seem to mostly collect images instead of coins, which lets me skip all that buying and selling!

No, but I probably should have kept at least one. I don't even have the image any more!

That is the story of my life. I have a huge problem in that area.

    Almost daily :(

I used to be somebody, now I'm just a coin collector.
