Need help on medal/token

While cleaning out one of my desk drawers, I came across this medal/token. Must have bought it many years ago and forgot about it - likely because I couldn't find it in my So Called Dollars reference so it got set aside.

I would be most appreciative if someone can identify this medal. It reads:

    I do not have any details to help you, however, I do believe I have seen this medal before on the forum... many years ago... When I saw the first picture, I immediately remembered the other side before scrolling further...Nice medal. Cheers, RickO

    I think you have identified it quite well. The only question now is what is it worth. Probably a good eBay item.

    FWIW, the last time I visited my brother in DePere, a suburb on the south side of the City of Green Bay, the Nicolet Paper Mill was still operating. Somebody who works there might buy it.

    Thanks everyone for the feedback thus far.
    I was hoping it might be something that would be worth putting in a holder - apparently not.

    I was born in Wisconsin, so this type of stuff seems to find me.

    It was a racist statement then, but perfectly acceptable among the white people of the time.
    It would be an intolerably racist statement today, but as a historical artifact of its times I think it can be accepted for what it is,

    Wisconsin 1934 centennial medal

    1934 Green Bay, Wis., Wisconsin Tercentennial, Jean Nicolet, Bronze 37mm Unc. A bronze medal commemorating the 300th anniversary of the coming of the first white man to Green Bay, Wisconsin, 1634 - 1934.

    In 1634 Jean Nicolet crossed Lake Michigan and landed at Red-Banks (near Green Bay), thus becoming the first white man to explore Wisconsin. (Found in Bloomington, IL)

    The tercentennial (300th anniversary) of Nicolet's landing at Green Bay was celebrated in 1934.

    . . .While it is the size and shape of a coin, I feel that it fits more into the relic category due to the historical context of it. President Franklin D. Roosevelt was the keynote speaker at the Wisconsin Tercentennial celebration on August 9, 1934. Evidently Mr. (or Mrs.) D. Prescott was so moved by Pres. Roosevelt’s speech that he purchased this “official souvenir” to commemorate the event.
