Here is one of my pet peeves !!!

Why do forum members not list in their title that the item(s) are listed on eBay? I open the sellers post to view an item for sale and behold, it's on eBay. I thought that there was a professional unwritten rule to include eBay in your title. Am I wrong? Just asking for responses.

Thank you !!! :)

A few years ago or 4 or 5 the moderator would give sellers warnings for not putting it in the title. Wonder why its changed?

It's just a "to each their own" type of thing, to me.

I often, tbh, just backarrow when I click into a FS thread that doesn't mention ebay in the title but has them in the listing.

To me, the bigger foul is when the seller has gone to the trouble of taking pics for the ebay sales but doesn't take the time, or have the courtesy, to post those pics (hopefully smaller versions) in the their BST thread for the same coins. I like to see pics, when available, and I am NOT going to go to each ebay auction to see them. So, seller has automatically closed the door on at least one potential purchaser (me), and maybe others, when they do that.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

I'm sure many posting eBay listings would be happy to sell through the BST and off of eBay.

Why do some members reply to BST postings with just a smiley face or a couple exclamation points?

    Folks is quirky.

I've noticed that. He's either trying to TTT the BST listing for a friend or he's trying to raise his post count in a futile effort to catch up with another forum member who will go unnamed. Cheers, PerryO.

Seriously, I always take it as a "sign of approval" like he is vetting it.

I have never sold on eBay but plan to. Thank you for posting this.

Can we make a serious thread for unwritten rules. It might be helpful.

I never understood the pimping of the PCGS coin boards for one's Ebay sales. It is Ebay, you are going to get all the looks you need to sell your coin. I don't care one bit if you have coins for sale on Ebay. Sell you coins here or on Ebay, but don't bother me with your Ebay link. I don't bother with the BST boards anymore, too much nonsense going on.

I agree if the coins are being auctioned at Great Collections, Heritage, or similar auction venue but when they are on eBay they can also be sold on the BST Forum usually at a significant discount to the eBay price. Many dealers sell nice coins on the BST that are also for sale in their coin shop so multiple venues is normal.

Feebay would never allow a link to the BST part of this or any forum.
they would be paranoid about a possible loss of revenue.

It has been an unwritten rule just like several other rules on the BST. Problem is that when there are unwritten rules there are going to be folks that do not know about them because they are new or newer members.

What ? He is PerryO the Buffer? I always thought is was his stamp of legitimacy on BST instead of buffing up his post counts.. Smile= good. Sad= bad . But now the truth is out. Tsk tsk tsk...

Like Baley said, folks is quirky...

I've sold many coins on the BST in the past without issue. Typically, I'll post what I have with images (more upon request) and a reasonable price which includes shipping. At that point, I'm open for negotiations. If I don't sell within a couple of weeks, I'll TTT the sale one last time with a note in the description... "last chance before ebay" or something like that... but that's just me. I'm not a dealer, and I don't do this as an all consuming hobby.

I don't care if a coin on the BST is also posted on eBay. I would expect it, considering people trying to sell coins are doing just that -- trying to sell their coins. However, I would also expect the BST price to be slightly lower given that the seller would save fees.

I could be just me, but I haven't had all that much luck with BST postings. Maybe it's what I'm posting, or maybe eBay has more eyeballs.

Possibly just a lot of newer folks...don't know. It does seem that in times past when someone posted something that was for sale on eBay and did not mention it in their title one of more solid board members would provide a polite reminder to 'Please include eBay in the subject line'. were it would be done (mostly) and that would be that. Ahh the good old days...now i sound like my grandfather!

I agree with this....there have been more than a single time when I was looking at a BST item that I thought was impressive and was going to post a 'Nice coin!' or something along that line and Timbuk3 beat me to it :( I am impressed at the number of BST threads that he views...

I don't understand why at least one particular member KEEPS posting eBay listing that's NOT even HIS / HERS :#
What is the real MO? It's a waste of time if you ask me :s

Building their thread count? I don't know what the motive is. Of course I don't look anymore, but it was aggravating to open the link and see APMEX's ebay sale.
