Guess I'm not going to the coin shop on my day off. Also known as a tree branch fell on my car...

SiriusBlackSiriusBlack Posts: 1,120 ✭✭✭✭✭

Stupid Santa Ana winds dropped a branch on my car and messed it up. According to the property managers of the condo complex they don't cover it because it's an act of god. Glad I have full insurance coverage for me car. :(

Post some cool coins to cheer me up please!

Yeah, you can still drive yours to the coin shop, just don’t blow your deductible.

Indeed! It just sucks because the catalytic converter went out last month even though I'm under 60K Miles. They warrantied the repair, but broke my windshield in the process. Got that fixed and was great. Then last week the panel under the engine that covers it for protection and aerodynamics and stuff came loose while I was driving, so I took it back in again. They fixed it fast, apparently when they were doing the other work they removed it and when they reinstalled one of the clips came loose so the wind go in with driving and pulled it down. Now I get to take it back in for this.

Sorry to hear about your car!
The winds have destroyed many trees around my city. One in my yard. I passed these precariously leaning palms earlier

I'm not much of a "car guy".....but if they broke the windshield while replacing your catalytic converter, that takes a special kind of "OOooooppppssss", I think. ;)

In this case blame Ford. The way the car is designed, half the engine compartment is under the dash. I can't even replace my battery myself because you have to remove engine parts to get to it. Apparently part of the repair is removing the windshield whipper blades and in doing so, his tool slipped and wack!

Some days, a trip to the coin shop is just not meant to be.

    Sorry about your car!

If the property manager is an atheist, I would find his or her statement to be:

    1. Confusing;

    2. Ironic; and

    3. Inexplicable. :)

Sorry for your damage. I've been doing a lot of log splitting, around here stump wood logs are usually over 400#, at least a few of them, lots of fun to split.

I'm actually amazed at the damage for the size of the branch. it wasn't huge. Obviously enough though :(

Ummm, what kind of car is it that you own? If you don't mind me asking.

I've already owned a truck years ago that was in the shop it seemed about every other week and going to be buying a new car and don't ever want to go through that again!

    Ford Escape 2013!
I love the car other than the design flaw with the battery location. I've just had rotten luck the past few months I guess. The other half of the branch is on the other side of the car out of view. It broke in three pieces when it hit apparently.

If that were my car I'd start thinking it was cursed. Oh, and I'm not totally buying the act of god defense by the landlord. If the tree had disease or wind damage prior you could press the issue I believe.

Hmmm, my daughter just bought a new one of those Ford Escape's (a fully loaded v6 4x4 model) to take to school with her back in Utah @Siriusblack, when I rode and looked over the car, it seemed to be a decently built car. She loves hers, hopefully it has just been a little bad luck that hopefully ends now for you! Good luck with yours for now on and hopefully the condo management pays for the damages done to your vehicle.

The tree obviously is a GM fan.

"Act of God" is an excuse for not maintaining the trees.

I'd normally agree with you all about not maintaining tree's but in this case I'm going to have a hard time claiming they've been negligent in maintaining trees when the past 2 weeks have been nonstop crews going through the whole area doing their once yearly tree trimming

Looks to me like that branch was partially sawn, and the wind finished the job. After having some of my big trees trimmed one time by a "budget" crew, branches fell for another few days.. then a wind came a few weeks later and more fell

I had a 30 footer come down and miss my car by 4 feet, so I was good. On escapes, I had an old one where the back spark plug was inside the dash...I can understand that on a 67 vet but not a little 6-cylinder.
