Did you examine the coin in hand at the Newman sale?
You did okay. Most of the coins from the Heritage sale garnered moon money, and I don't frankly think the older auction records are reproducible. I have seen several sell for deep discounts in the after market from that sale (not necessarily Morgans though to be fair). I guess the appeal of the pedigree wore off after the sale.
The Green coins seem to have held up better than those with only the Newman pedigree. I'll see what happens.
I like that coin a lot. Tough to tell for sure from the images, but I think the patina would look nice in hand.

Not meaning to stir up a hornet's nest, but I sure would be tempted to give her a bath-after close examination for unwelcome surprises. May have blazing luster hidden under that veil.

Dipping it would only reveal a washed-out, dipped-out '85-S similar to thousands of others. It's much more appealing in its current state of preservation. It would be more appealing in a PCGS holder, not sure if they'd label it with the pedigree.
In the original sale, I looked at this one. In my opinion, it is 64. It also did not get CAC since they all were sent.
I have since crossed the ones I bought to PCGS and they also have the sticker back on. Lot's of buyers are sunk forever on some of those coins (me), and what a shame this coin hammered at $1011. That will leave a mark on the original owner for a long time. In 2013, that was close to a 65. Today, stripped of the toning, 63.
Oh dear...I had better flip it then!
This is the coin from Heritage. If the toning was removed, the planchet striations would be far more distracting, further hurting the grade. (Look at the ear and above\below) They are also on her cheek but well hidden.

No. I bought the pedigree. If it said Schmalzberger on the holder instead of Green, I would have passed.
The Col. Green pedigree os one of the coolest arond IMO, and it means less than nothing as to whether or not is has one of those annoying and distracting oval decals pasted on the holder.
Your hobby is supposed to be your therapy, not the reason you need it.

Pretty neat in my opinion. Doesn't need a sticker on it; the coin speaks for itself.
Cool coin...can't go too far wrong at the price you paid...but there is "value" in the label...I would not crack out...
