I swear I'm like a crack addict....

After about 45 minutes I refreshed my browser window with my main saved eBay search and this popped up. It was an opportunity my wallet really wasn't ready for but it was the right coin at the right price. There's no telling when another 1805 in my range would appear again and no way was I going to let the opportunity slip by. Please enjoy it with me.
I have to lay off my addiction for at least a few months.

Otherwise it's pretty!
Sweet coin!
When I make an ebay purchase like this it only means one thing. Tomorrow expect a 10% bucks offer.
Congratulations on a nice find.
LOL!! I had that in mind! Applying that exact same feeling I figured if I waited for the bucks someone else would've hit the BIN!

Very nice piece.
When opportunity knocks, you must open the door.... ready or not!
I don't think you'll ever regret that one. Congratulations!
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

Right place, right time........presto ! a WINNER
Nice one. That is why I must avoid Buffs and some here ain't helping.
That is a nice coin, a lot of detail for a VG10. Draped Bust coins are addicting!
Nice coin!!
Every once in a while you just have to make it work. Cool pickup. These don's show up every day.
Crack kills! Nice detail on the rev shield on that for VG. Peace Roy

Very Nice!
I know how you feel, seems like the good opportunities always present themselves when I am short on cash.
We can sense your excitement... and relate to it very well... That is the addicting rush that keeps us collecting coins.... Nice acquisition... Cheers, RickO
Not many crack addicts have something to show for their addiction. Money is just gone. That will be around years from now.

Very nice. Hope it gives you many years of enjoyment.
Noice!
You’re not the only one that feels addicted to coins. I’m a guy that has many doubles, triples and quadruplets of the series I collect, Buffalo nickels. I honestly can not tell you how many type 1 Buffs I own. Yes, it’s that bad. Sometimes I think I’m more of a hoarder than a collector. I add to my collection all the time but I very rarely sell any.
Have fun with it. You’ll never go to jail for being a collector of coins. I’d say to stay the hell away from that crack. I see on the news and programs on television on the life style of crackheads and it’s not pretty
Happy hunting, Joe
I've heard of dime bags before.....but not half-dime bags !
That’s funny
I doubt you could find a nicer one for the grade, if you could find one at all! That should sate the cravings.... for a while
One common denominator I think of when reading threads like this, or the coin life balance thread, is how important it is to enjoy the coins we have and not just the newps. Easier said than done!!
that sure is a nice half, i like
Two rare draped bust half dimes, both in PCGS VG holders, in the same month? You're on quite a roll! Coingrats, another awesome specimen, are you working on a set of DBHE HDs? Looking forward to seeing your other coins!

Congrats on getting a historic coin! Coins from that early in our country's history have a special meaning for me.

Pretty coin!

Thank you. Actually this all started with the pursuit of a simple complete date/MM set of Liberty Seated Half Dimes. My interest at some point expanded into the Capped Bust series, and before you know it I found my self equally interested in the entire family of Half Dimes from start to finish, 1792 - 1873. It didn't stop there because then I became fascinated with the varieties.
So my goalpost moved from just a complete Liberty Seated date/MM set to pursuing the entire run of half dime circulation strikes with the major varieties. Though I must admit, there are two I will never own due to their lofty values: the 1792 Half Disme and the 1802 half dime. But we never say never, right? I consider myself very fortunate to have been able to acquire these past two examples, but now it's time for a rest.....
On a final note, the 1805 just arrived. There was a thread about "glamour shots" the other day with some discussion on how a coin looks in reality vs. a TrueView. As seen above, this 1805 has an early TrueView, but based on my experience I expected the coin to be predominately greyish/brown and for those colors to pop only when light hits it just the right way.
Much to my surprise, the coin looks just like the TrueView in hand! The color is all there just as pictured. I was thrilled to pieces. Thanks to all for the comments and compliments. I love to share newps and I'm always looking forward to seeing everyone else's. It's like show & tell for us grown-ups.

Nice coin and great pick-up.
It's three with the 1870-S, although it does not usually show up in the Registry Set lists, so it may be conveniently forgotten.
It's times like these when I would suggest finding a copy of Edgar E. Souders' Bust Half Fever, first edition, & turn to page 238. There you will find a description of the stages and the symptoms of what he describes as "an illness." Then you will know that your not alone! Congrats on your NEWP.
That's exactly right. I conveniently forgot about that one even though I was just reading about it the other day!
