Well I'll be darned... Cheers, RickO
Amazing. If you click on the "See All Images" by my count there are 9 66+'s, of which the most recent 6 are this coin (assuming the truviews are posted in order), and then this coin as the lone 67.
Aside from this @STEWARTBLAYNUMIS , what do you think of the spots on this coin?
Wow... I don't collect at nearly this level for IHCs. The price difference between the two grades is why... stunning!
Successful BST transactions with: SilverEagles92; Ahrensdad; Smitty; GregHansen; Lablade; Mercury10c; copperflopper; whatsup; KISHU1; scrapman1077, crispy, canadanz, smallchange, robkool, Mission16, ranshdow, ibzman350, Fallguy, Collectorcoins, SurfinxHI, jwitten, Walkerguy21D, dsessom.
The spots bug me for a ms67 RD coin...
Happens with lots of coins.

If you look closely, I think 7 and possibly 8 of the 66+s are this coin. A few of the images are darker but look closer. Also 2 of the 66s are the same coin.

That indicates there's some consistency. At least the grades aren't all over the place.
66 to 67 is splitting hairs to begin with. 22 grades of unc is just insane.
In the old days, was all of this just Gem BU?
It's interesting that sports card grading seems to be much larger than coin grading and they only have 10 grades.
Yes, all 3 of these would have been Surpurb Gem. You have BU, CHBU. GemBU and Surpurb Gem that use to cover the whole BU range.
Can’t tell how many I see in the proof seated quarters.

The reason you never see the grades go down is that once a high end/expensive coin is in plastic, most are afraid to crack it out and only use regrade/reconsider. If many of these were cracked out today, you would see more going down than up.
If I'm understanding your point - this was a gutsy move by this person to crack 10 times.

Regarding upgrades, sometimes someone sees something that others don't.
Where's the gate-keeper (HRH) when you need him.
This coin was sent in regrade
If it was sent in reconsideration
It would have the same serial number. Hence 10 images and 10
different serial numbers.
The coin has fantastic luster
and eye appeal. However the cut on
the neck and the cut on the chin
along with black carbon flecks
On the obverse and the reverse
Should have red flagged a 67 grade.
Besides this coin will never CAC as a
ms 67 red.
However the price difference between a 66 or a 66+ and a 67
is about $ 40,000 .
And I would be a buyer for a no
questions 1893 in ms 67 red
Do you think any of the other currently known coins would qualify as a MS67RD? Or would it need to be a new discovery?
Not me. I just do not do condition rarity, but to each his own.
The evolution was not always upwards - it "waffled" in the first few resubmissions.
Here are the results of the 10 gradings of the same coin, by submission date:

Will they stop now, or are they going for 71+?
I guess you can take it with a grain of salt the population reports with all this breaking out and resubmitting, especially on the commoner coins!!
I don't like the new one on PCGSCOINFACTS, but I also don't think the one from 15 years ago is anything great either. Here it is:
