Nomar Garciaparra in the late 90's. Hit .357 and then .372 with power. Didn't strike out a lot. Had that great compact swing. It seemed as if it was impossible for him not to hit it hard.
Then he got hurt all the time. Its a shame we didn't see him healthy longer.
Fred Lynn...sweet swing, took the league by storm his rookie year, and loved the way he played CF(and who cares what his defensive WAR Is because it is wrong!!!).
I recall Nomar had that habit of tapping his toes 2-3 times each on the dirt while in the batters box. Also remember the Joe Morgan arm twitch while at bat?

I could list a bunch that have already been listed here, mostly sweet swinging leftys...Straw, Will, Bonds, etc.
I'll add two. As a youngster I loved watching Ben Oglivie. Violent swing. I witnessed a 3 HR game from him at County Stadium. I also really enjoyed Kirby Puckett as well...RIP.
Reggie Jackson (he landed on his a__ after swinging so hard, always a big stage when he came to the plate, 1977 World Series)
George Brett - great clutch hitter and crushed Goose Gossage more than anyone.
Pete Rose - played the game at 110% all the time, belongs in the HOF!
McGwire/Sosa - what a year
Ken Griffey Jr. - sweet swing and terrific fielder
Pitchers - Maddux (pinpoint control and awesome fielder), Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez (whose your daddy), & Mariano Rivera
Brett
Gwynn
Henderson (because if he got on base, anything could happen)
I agree with Barndog, watching a hitter who could put the ball into play more than not was more exciting to me that the guy who would strike out more than not (leaving those on base stranded).
