Give A Gift To Paradise Found Inspired Me

hchcoinhchcoin Posts: 4,837 ✭✭✭✭✭

Back on September 1st, @DCW started the Give A Gift To Paradise Found thread because of the positivity that @Paradisefound has spread across the forum. You can read all about it here:

https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/1004752/the-give-a-gift-to-paradisefound-thread-we-did-it/p1

I am a college instructor and went to work today just like any other day. I get an email that a student has lost $600 a few days ago and if anyone finds it, please contact one of our other instructors. As I was sitting there thinking about how much money that is to a young college student and figuring it was probably for rent or groceries, I suddenly thought about the Paradisefound gift thread and decided to try the same. So I responded to all the faculty and said I am in for $50 and was hoping another 11 instructors would pitch in to help the young lady out. Just like the generosity on the forum, we came up with the money fairly quickly and I took it to the student and she started crying as did her classmates and the instructor. You should have seen the look on her face when this random stranger comes in the room to give her this gift.

I never would have thought to do this if it hadn't been for @DCW and @Paradisefound . So I just wanted to share this story because it felt great to help someone who I don't know and who really needed it. I also wanted to thank all those who participated in the give a gift. You never know when your small act of kindness will inspire someone else to do the same.

Pay it forward.

You and the associates you inspired are a very generous group who will definitely inspire others to do the same and experience the thrill of giving. o:) She is very fortunate to have crossed your path.

Some of us are not so fortunate. :( For instance, I've had my eye on a genuine 1907 HR graded MS-65+ that would be a great addition to my Teaching Set when paired with an "Omega" counterfeit.

Alas, it is so far out of the budget that I'm sure I'll never have one. :'(:'(:'(

Kindness and generosity is something that has been completely lost with the current leaders of our country. It's really nice to see this sort of grass roots idea taking hold. Wonderful to hear of these sorts of stories.

I'm so glad we inspired you!
It was so funny, when the "give a gift" was created, we had divided it up by 20 donations and some members felt left out! To make everyone feel good about giving and participating, we had to divide the donation by 40, er actually 39 as one member didn't want to give less!!!! It is true though, giving is better than receiving ! And if this act of ours inspired you, hopefully it will continue to spread- wouldn't that be nice?@!

You will receive more than you gave. Human generosity has hit an all time low and your act just strengthens our purpose. Thank you for sharing.

Well done, I think your story could be the poster child for "pay it forward". There's hope for us yet.

If we were all the same, the world would be an incredibly boring place.

This is the best thing that I've seen in a while. It's amazing what a small amount of generosity spread over a group of people can do.

    Well done!

If the news was as quick to jump on stories like this as they are the "doom & gloom" stories, we'd all have a much brighter view of the world. Good stuff happens every day.

Good point. Any chance of getting the story into the local college paper, and then maybe it might be picked up by a wire service (do they still exist?). I'd love to see this great gesture a wider audience!

i was in the drive thru about 5 weeks ago and noticed a female air force woman behind me that seemed to be having a tough day. i got to the window got my coffee and paid for her iced tea and went to where i was going. the next day i saw the cashier and she had said that really made her day. it felt good to do that and did pay it forward. have a good day all
