Yellowstone National Park geyser erupts and sends out old coins

A surprising geyser eruption in Yellowstone National Park coughed up some surprising objects that had been tossed into it over the decades. Human stuff like coins and cans aren't surprising, necessarily, but a 1930's pacifier?
"After Ear Spring erupted on September 15, employees found a strange assortment of items strewn across the landscape around its vent! Some are clearly historic: they'll be inventoried by curators and may end up in Yellowstone's archives," park officials said on their Facebook page.

It would be cool if any were Yellowstone quarters (2010), or for that matter a Yellowstone (1999) or National Parks (2016) silver dollar. Or anything with a geyser on it.

All natural toning, and having been untouched for decades, they are probably Mint State or even better ! Absolute necessity for Registered Sets and other great investments! Did they find any Big Macs?
It appears that some may be silver which usually does well in many environments but I don't see anything here that looks like it survived unscathed. I wish there were some close-ups.

If they were smart they would call it the "Ear Spring Geyser Hoard", and have PCGS holder them, even if they are environmental damage. People will buy anything if it comes from an interesting hoard, lol.
There was a group of people making quite a living scooping coins out of the Trevi Fountain in Rome.
When my first wife and I honeymooned in Italy in 1986 I tossed an AG 1798 cent into Trevi. Always wondered what the person who found it thought.

That is interesting... never thought of a geyser spitting out coins, but it does make sense. Likely the water is mildly acidic, which would explain the condition of the coins. Cheers, RickO
