I have not done a guess the grade on here for a while now. I picked this up recently and wanted to see what some of your thoughts are. All comments are welcome. :)

Attractive color, imo, a little weakly struck-especially on the reverse, for a '38-P. My guess is MS64 w/cac.

I'm at MS65 unless you snagged it in a no line fatty.

Love the color and look, though it would be impossible to find other matching coins to go with it
in a set. And I'm Ok with that....uniformity can be boring.

Agree with OldEastside....without being able to tilt it or inspect it in hand, to better gage the luster bands, it could be a 58, although likely in a MS holder, as high as 64.

I agree with both OldEastside and Walkerguy21D. 58 to 64. I would lean more toward 58, but that's just my opinion.

I 'see' fairly nice luster - though color indicates a prior dip (IMHO). Fields are very nice.
I'm also crediting a color grade bump.
    66.

64+ but 65 would be OK. I like the overall look. Might be secondary toning.

This is one of those tougher coins to photograph. The luster is there, but it's a bit subdued due to a bit of haze and the toning. The color patterns make it almost appear to be AU like in the images, but you guys are seeing through it, it is in a MS holder. :)

58, if that is wear. 64 if weak strike. Typically well struck.

I see a 65. It has a weaker strike but the surface preservation and the toning are magnificent.

I can see the eye appeal pushing what might be a 64 if white, to a 65.....

I like it! probably a 65 by today's standards. Lil weak of a strike for a 38 and that foreign matter by the L in liberty being the only detractors.

    I recently got a colorful 38 too.

I like yours. It looks like it has some decent luster and I like the peripheral toning. :)

Mu first thought also but looking at the other guesses I didn't want to embarrass myself. Not that 63 is a bad thing mind you. I like the coin a lot.

    64 is my WAG
    Great photography.
    I bet that's a beauty to behold.

I'm never a fan of what I consider distracting image stamps on pics of a beautiful piece FWIW

Send it to the bean people. If you're lucky enough to get a yellow, it will be worth more than in a regular 65 holder.

I'm hopeful that it comes back with a gold bean. I spotted it on Great Collections a few weeks ago and was expecting it to sell for more than what I was willing to bid on it. I was surprised that is sold for less than my max bid. :) I don't come across rattlers with this low of a serial number often. So close to being a white label. LOL

Above average Unc. but where's the luster? I prefer Clarkbar's coin.

1938 is an interesting Philly coin.
They seem tougher and at one time I had a mini-hoard, now long dispersed.
    Nice piece.
