Someone asked about my Avatar

My avatar pic is my youngest daughter Megan when she was about 3. She was born 2.5 months premature, weighed under 3lbs. She was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and the doctors told us all the things she would probably never be able to do. Fortunately Megan didn't listen.
She is a senior in high school, varsity track 3 years, and just received her first Track scholarship recruitment letter. Here's what she looks like now.

Recipient of the coveted "You Suck" award, April 2009 for cherrypicking a 1833 CBHD LM-5, and April 2022 for a 1835 LM-12, and again in Aug 2012 for picking off a 1952 FS-902.

    Holey Guacamole! Doctors are not perfect and sometimes it is great when they get it wrong!

    Fantastic news for your daughter and I hope most folks realize that when physicians give prognoses such as this they are typically going on the information available and statistical probability, which is different from a set in stone outcome.

    Knowing where you are, it is quite possible I have already seen her compete . . . . .

    She's a pole vaulter, just like her great grandfather who was favored to take the Gold medal at the 1924 Paris Olympics. He broke a bone in his foot on his first qualifying vault and never competed again.

    I always thought that she was the cutest avatar on the boards. What a wonderful story.

    I've always believed that children are the most resilient, especially when they are very young and don't really understand the meaning of the word "can't", so they will never cease to amaze me.
