2018 coins going for almost $1000.00?

Can someone explain why anyone would pay almost $1000.00 for 2 2018 dimes and 2 2018 nickels?

No different than those buying 2018 silver proof sets for $10 more than Mint issue price. Available right now for $49.95.

$999 FOR A FEW CENTS WITCH ARE AROUND FACE VALUE IF NOT A DOLLARS OR FEW CENTS MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!! YIKES!! This person is eather making a joke, pretending to be dum, or is dum. Hopefully no one will pay 999 for a few modern cents worth a few dollars.

NONE were sold at that price. Click on the sales. They sold for $3.45. The seller just upped the price to $999, maybe they are out of inventory.

This here is the reason. It’s done by many sellers to keep their listing active (especially if many people are on the watch list) while the seller restocks inventory.

Well, you do get $99 in eBay bucks if you buy now!

Yup at least it’s 888 if you include the eBay bucks 😂

money laundering? i cant think of a single, legal reason why anyone would do this.

This was exactly my first thought. Although it would be a foolish way to do any large amount of laundering.

It probably wouldn't be too difficult to negotiate a hundred dollars off of that price!

    There's actually triple window 2x2s

That must be an inventory ploy as stated above.... I cannot imagine even a new collector making such a foolish buy... Cheers, RickO

    It's a "marketing strategy":

Step 1. Sell a bunch of nickel and dime sets for a few dollars each. This gets you a legitimate tag (e.g., "180 Sold").

Step 2. Bump the price to $999. The "180 Sold" tag remains.

And there must be at least one gullible customer that will "Buy 3 Get One Free".
