Newps for the worn Barber Quarter set

Desert MoonDesert Moon Posts: 6,103 ✭✭✭✭✭

I managed to acquire 9 new Barber quarters for my Registry set. Four of them are imaged below. One of them is from Tom Bush. I am going against the old adage 'buy the keys first'. I don't agree with that premise unless one has infinite resources. The only way to understand surfaces of coins in a new series you begin to collect in is to see lots of them. If you make mistakes with the common ones, it does not cost too much money. If you make mistakes with the keys, well.......... So buy the common ones first, understand the surfaces, then put money down for the keys. Finding the right coins for the keys is so much harder and one better know what one is doing. I will send them all in to CAC to see how I have done in evaluating surfaces.

Best, SH

Nice coins. The 04 should easily sticker I think.

Great eye appeal. A nicely worn coin can have a nice honest look to it and I think you did well. Thanks for sharing.

Nicest VF 25s I've seen. I love it when someone can eye appeal at a grade level so consistently. I collect EF 45 and it's tough matching coins. So, those four are no easy feat. Way to go.

Thanks Soldi. Unscrubbed BQ'S in 45 are very hard to find. Actually, they are hard to find in almost any grade.........

I know VF quarters. It can be a real struggle to find nice P-mints. Love the ‘04! These all get my stamp of approval. WELL DONE!

Always looking for original, better date VF20-VF35 Barber quarters and halves, and a quality beer.

All of these you've shown exhibit nice, original circulated surfaces and each will sticker easily, IMO. Nice job, nice eye. You'll probably be tempted by many examples of the keys before you find one worth pulling the trigger on. It can be tricky. :)

I actually think that the best looking Barber coins are found between VG 8 and VF 25

Cant wait to see how it turns out! You might have been the one to beat me to some of the quarters Tom had recently!
