Wild Looking Morgan Toner

I was housecleaning when I stumbled upon this a few days ago. The coin was inside a notebook between the cardboard cover and the paper. It was probably sitting there for 35 years. I have no recollection of this coin and I was very surprised, needless to say, when I found it. I’m pretty sure the coin was blast white before I lost it.

I’m gonna have to do some more cleaning around here
Doesn't look right to me!
Thinking AT
Great story.
Neat looking for sure. Highly doubt it will slab as market acceptable but still neat.
Love those stories !!!
May be legit, but convincing a tpgs it is may be a problem. Sure has an AT look. Edit to say it sure looks nice.
That's terrible. Just terrible.
It looks like blatant AT to me. Even if it were legitimate, I do not believe it is market acceptable.
That looks as natural as Dolly Parton.

I like it. Botox and all:)
Someone colored that one just outside the lines. Interesting.

its not for me, pass
Then it was artificially toned at least 35 years ago.
Doubt any TPG would certify it.
I don’t think it’s particularly attractive and I don’t think a TPG would straight grade it either.
But from my perspective I find this to be an interesting coin. 35 years ago this coin was white and today, after sitting in a notebook tucked away in a box, it has this wild look to it.
It really makes me think about the fine line between what’s AT and NT. Most of us agree that coins in old TPG’s or albums which develop secondary toning are NT. Taco Bell napkin coins with vibrant toning are probably considered NT by some. If we blow torch/cook a coin, or add chemicals to the surface we’d all agree that’s AT.
Which is the precise reason we are moving away from NT/AT to MA/NMA. It presents a much clearer guideline. However that line can change over the years so we are going to need to see how that takes shape.
I don't doubt your story. It looks just like you would expect from sitting unmolested in between book pages for so long with the high central devices being trapped and "hermetically sealed" away from the atmosphere while an air gap space remained for the fields and peripheral devices to tone. However, the "look" would not be market acceptable. This coin is a perfect example of the need for the industry to shift away from NT/AT and into MA/NMA imo.
Looks cool but at the same time a bit of a suspicious color, send it off to be graded
