The brockage was caused by a dropped cap. How many ways are you counting that?
I don’t think that the split that developed during the off-center strike counts as a separate error.

Just counting the brockage as one error.

I was counting the split planchet as an error

We can agree to disagree on the split.

Not the best looking dime I've ever seen. Would be cool if the bands were visible and split.

    Later, Paul.

I just learned something new today! I didn't know what a chain strike was, so I googled it!

I'm too lazy to google it. Someone share what a chain strike is?

A chain strike happens when two planchets are but up next to each other and when struck, the pressure forces the two planchets together leaving a straight edge where touching.

Below is an example a two chain struck cents that were on top of a third planchet leaving a double chain struck indent in this coin.

What's up with the curvy thing starting at the R in LIBERTY and hugging the edge up into the unstruck area? That's pretty clearly "something", but I can't tell from the picture what I'm looking at.

Maybe we can call a major multiple error like this a "therapist coin" - it has so many issues it needs a therapist. :p

I'd say the split was caused by the brockage and wouldn't consider it a separate error.

I believe that is what Tom was saying.

To be fair tho, There are many brockages that do not cause a split planchet, so this is a little different than those.

Where is the die break - isn't it more accurately a die crack? And isn't there an obverse strike-through?
