Wow, that is a lot of gold and a big operation.
My operation, not so big, but I do find gold.
Perhaps a CU forum member gold expedition in the fall should be in the works?
A great find in Australia, but very Capital intensive. A poor bastage isn't likely to hit this.
I would love to join if I am able to take a vacation first time in decades. Nothing like making booby traps off the main road. lol

@ErrorsOnCoins that’s pretty sweet, I’ve never been able to pull up that close to any of my digs.
I did hike all my gear up a more remote valley to try and did find good gold and did find some. It is way easier at the truck tho.
The thing is, this place has gold almost anywhere you dig.,
I am still prospecting the area tho.
I still need to find a honey hole.
That is really neat! While the financial gain almost certainly doesnt line up with the time and hard work invested, I can think of worse things to do with my time.

Great finds, Man! Its add up fast. Your dry rig looks legit. Everybody wants to find a nugget, sure, but gold mining is all about fine gold recovery.
I'll add, I think its good therapy for me just digging. I can dig all day long and when I get back to town I'm way more relaxed in traffic and at home and work, etc. Our joke is that we expect the world to be Mayberry when we get back to society. I went out once to just get away and get my head screwed on tighter and let off steam. Funny thing is, over time I discovered that it didn't really show me how to deal with the complexities of life but rather showed me how truly ridiculous some of it is when you pull back a min. I used to think the Old Heads where antisocial from being away too long picking rocks, but its happening to me.
Nevertheless, If I know I'm in gold I just can't stop. I'm that one for shovel guy. I'm happily hand shoveling 2-3 pickup beds worth of soil screened down to a houseplant size of heavies and cleanup at home. Nothing better.
No kidding someone is finding gold in my neck of the desert.

I love prospecting for gold. It's a lot of work, but knowing that you are the first human to ever lay eyes on what you found is very rewarding. Here's some placer gold that I pulled from a river in an afternoon, about 30 minutes from where I live. This river is also known to have some placer platinum as well, if you look closely, you'll see a small piece of platinum hiding among the gold.

I have only worked the claim 1/2 season on about 4 or 5 weekends as I live about 3 hours from this claim. I blew up my white truck a couple times driving back so its gone and I have a really nice Toyota 4x4 now. I need to spend a lot more time digging new holes to bedrock. My dry rig definitely finds fine gold. Still waiting for a nugget to be sitting there staring at me in the box.
Ah, the other Mother Lode country... Prospecting there is on my bucket list.
I've been contemplating heading out to do a little digging lately. I must say your post really pushed me to want to go. I wish my area was open year round, but it has a season. It just started in August and goes until February. So I may just go this weekend or the next.

Our season is basically between winter when it freezes. I will say, my record for cold weather prospecting is 4 degrees f. With insulated weighters on and you shovel sand that is under moving water into your submerged sleuce it never freezes. You can’t pan in that the water freezes in a second. Eventually, you pull out the sleuce box and carry it to the truck frozen. I would pour a cup of water on it and really lock it up until I could thaw it in my heated garage. Granted, that was during a period where I was heavy into it.
It was pretty tough watching reruns of Gold Rush in the winter or bearing sea gold and they ice mine so I figured why not. It’s pretty tough on the body though, ignoring the cold like that. Our winters here have some thaw days that melt all the snow but it’s still below freezing at night. Under some encouragement from a buddy, I decided to bundle up and strike out and try hunting our state gemstone the fairburn agate.
I have been doing that since about 2011 and really don’t go for gold much anymore. You see, as cool as it is adding up the gold totals, it’s all about the amount and the same experience. The agates get me to some beautiful country and theoretically, it’s a possibility to find the best agate ever found thats just now being uncovered by rain. It’s thrilling, and just good clean fun. I get into some beautiful moments for sure. In fact, I went today, walked and hiked 10 miles, rode my atv prob 10 miles too. Was skunked today for agates but not for sunlight and fresh air. Still, if you add up the year, my agate totals way outweigh my gold totals in value and rarity ten fold. Sometimes though, in the highest heat of the summer, standing in a cool creek for a little gold can’t be beat. It’s just about getting out and I remind myself each time I go, I’ve never found anything cool setting on my couch.
I panned for gold when I lived in Western Colorado, on the Gunnison near Whitewater. Now, all I pan for is pineapples.

I really like to pan gold....have done it in AZ, CA, WA and New Zealand.....I have a couple of nice little nuggets... a 5 gram and 6 gram... Cheers, RickO
