if it gets the bean, I'll put up the green! I'll have to own it-sorry everyone else
Apparently it was graded super conservatively at 64+, so I figure it's a lock for a sticker! The coin itself was purchased directly from Naftzger many decades ago for a major pile of cash, and has never been in any auctions.
Now that is a wonderful looking Chain Cent. Almost has a steel blue color to it. Love the mint red around the chain. It is shocking when they look like this, so nice.
Not sure that you can trust blue copper........:):) Perhaps Stewie can weigh in with his sharp eyes to put our concerns to rest that this coin was treated with MS70 40-50 years ago.
What a spectacular looking coin that survived in this condition for so many years. Looking forward viewing the coin at FUN and holding it. WOW! Precious!
Roger - Coins, people, serious collections, creatures and hopefully you will make an appearance
Cardinal - a street cop bought a gem chain cent for a pile of cash...
I like it !
MS 64+ is Not right to grade the finest AMERI chain cent. It should
have been graded ms 65
I would bet Specialist buys it and gets a Great Deal for her customer.
That is truly an amazing coin.... My area is very old, and was prominent through the Revolutionary War and beyond.... I have always hoped to find one of these around or in the very old foundations, stone houses from that time... no luck so far - and even if I found one, it would not be in such pristine condition. Cheers, RickO
The Ameri. Cent is not the only consignment from that collector. There's also a gem Wreath Cent, and a number of 1792 pieces -- including the finest known J-2 Cent (PCGS-SP53BN):

The consecutive cert numbers are interesting.
About that....the collector had each and every one of those coins RAW from the time they were acquired decades ago until past month. So, these were their first grading submission in their lifetimes!! In fact, the collector brought those coins (and others) to the ANA in Los Angeles back in 2009, particularly to show to Mark Salzberg of NGC. Salzberg had said that all of the "great" coins had already been slabbed, and the collector wanted to prove him wrong! I was at that same ANA and got to examine each and every one in hand, in the raw!!
There is a another collection of 1792 coins shown in the Rare Coin Market Report. That collection is called, The Archangle Collection. They will be sold at Winter Expo. Amazing two collections will be on the market within a few months.
In newer copper news the original discovery 1943 cent will be up.for the 1st time, and I think some nice Farouk sale items that have been locked away since that sale may also be in the mix

Thunking of consigning my 1798 small 8 dime in PCGS/CAC MS-65. A 50/50 shot.
This soecial dime is from the Dr. Bareford collection and is safely kept in the PCGS OGH slab.
It was purchased by me back in 1996 and has seen no action since then.
Now that's cool - would love to see that coin.
