Thank you. I appreciate the feedback and wholeheartedly and willing to accept the consequences if I made a mistake here. Regardless, I have learned a lot from this thread alone.
People are quick to point out potential issues, and that is based on their experience and expertise, but I am certain that everyone hopes it turns out OK. Everyone loves a happy ending to a raw coin purchase.
Well I have 50 pounds of loose change when I start my long journey to go through them all starting 7 years from now this will be one of the pennies on my what to hope for. Thanks for all the good information. I am not a penny collector but I have quite a bit of graded ones I picked up during the last 4 years. Who knows maybe I have one.
It's a genuine die #4, position of the mint mark looks correct, the dot between the V and B is where it should be for a genuine coin.
Die #4 is the most common, and not necessarily the best struck of the bunch, usually when a VDB is altered, the person does not get the position of the VDB right.
It is slightly to the left of center on genuine coins.
Your coin shows that.
Two pics for you:
Your coin looks Xf to me.
Good Luck!

UPDATE: The coin was submitted through my local dealer to PCGS. They just notified me it was graded as AU 50. It should be back sometime next week. I’ll be sure to post pictures after I pick it up.
I can tell by looking at just the obverse that this is an authentic 1909 svdb, die position 4.Far as I know 1909 s without vdb is unknown with s in position 4.
Nice piece.

The B in the VDB would have me worried. The dot before the B also looks questionable as it doesn't match with the others. The coin in particular the obverse is showing circulation but notice the lack of hits in the fields. If it grades I would guess 40 but I have serious doubts to it authenticity.

Interesting to look back at the start of this thread. Lots of strong "expert" judgements on authenticity.
The pardon is for tyrants. They like to declare pardons on holidays, such as the birthday of the dictator, or Christ, or the Revolution. Dictators should be encouraged to keep it up. And we should be encouraged to remember that the promiscuous dispensation of clemency is not a sign of political liberality. It is instead one of those valuable, identifying marks of tyranny.

If I had to wager now that the pic is back. I'll say a details but authentic cent.
Tough pictures. Someone trying to to either add a MM or make it more pronounced. Imo. More likely a messed with original or just plane damaged.

Glad your coin is authentic!
Didn't read the whole thread before answering. I'm surprised it came back authentic and 50. Happy for you, congratulations.
