Five for a Buck! No Respect for Clad Quarters at Local Auction...

I bought these quarters a few weeks ago at a local auction. I was hoping for a bargain on these five quarters; primarily, for the 1970-D that was in the group. The 1970-D had a bit of a golden toning- yet the mirrors on both obverse, and reverse appear full PL: Insomuch, whomever labeled the 2x2 flip indicated it as a 1970-s proof! I'm a PL fan on business strikes, so, this was truly a steal at price. I thought at most $5 for group- sold for less than combined face value at $1...can't lose at that price. 
Bitter sweet I suppose...five quarters weren't more than a dollar at this auction. No respect for clads... At least in NW Ohio. Uggh.....Really???
Was labeled as a business strike- should be SMS.
AU slider- was in group because of reverse die crack.
Beautiful coin with exception of the spot on obverse. Solid MS67 otherwise.
Nice Proof like example. Was labeled as "proof" on 2x2.
Beautiful, and desirable bicentennial for album. At least a MS66 coin.

Strange. That stuff usually goes for far more than they are worth at local auctions.

I went to a local auction about a year ago filled with crap and watched this happen a few times. I only got lucky once and got a state quarter proof set for $1 (face 1.25). It makes for a long auction when you auction rolls of mercs and indians piece by piece. I wrote down the sale price for every lot and when I added it up at the end each lot averaged selling for under $3.50.
Nice bargains ...fun when something like that comes along.... Cheers, RickO

Note even close to melt though- all 5 combined total about .19! Perhaps someday there will be clad stacker's?! Imagine that...maybe not in our lifetimes. Who knows?
