NEWPS from Stacks ANA auction/ Cardinal medals

I went into this auction wanting to buy the magnificent bronze Declaration of Independence and Letter to Hamilton medals consigned by cardinal. I was underbidder on both and I'm having serious regrets on both as these rarely come up for sale. I may have missed my boat. Congrats to the winners. I was however able to add three new medals to my collection from the Cardinal offering.
1) Horatio Gates at Saratogo Medal. SP 58. This is a very rare and historic impression in white metal. Aaron Burr delivered the Gates medal dies to the Mint in 1801 where they would be first used to strike the silver and white metal for the Gates family. Adam Eckfeldt struck these almost immediately upon the arrival of the dies at the Philadelphia Mint.
The Battle of Saratoga is considered a major turning point of the American Revolution as the victory brought the French into the war on the side of our burgeoning nation. While generals Daniel Morgan and Benedict Arnold deserve the lions share of credit for the outcome it was General Horatio Gates that accepted the sword of the losing British General ( John Burgoyne). Saratoga is special to me and I visit it as often as possible. This medal is included in the 100 Geatest American Medals and Tokens.
2) Libertas Americana J.A Bolen Store Card struck in 1867. MS 63 RB. This a scarce medal that was high on my want list. A little trivia- this piece was included in the very first medal and token submission to PCGS and was featured in the PCGS ad banner to promote the fact they were grading such pieces. The mirrors on this piece are fantastic.
3) Libertas Americana PR70DCAM one kilo medal. Yep, one kilo. Ok this is one serious hunk of metal. It's crazy cool and I was anxious to add it to my all things Libertas Collection

Nice medals. At the WFM, I caught myself being mesmerized by several dealer displays of honking early American medals in various metals. The depth of details are so great as to create a diorama of history. Peace Roy

Nice coins, all. As always. I like shiny things, so I think I would have gone for the Libertas Kilo.
Truly beautiful pieces... and that one kilo piece is fantastic... Congratulations on some great acquisitions. Cheers, RickO
The kilo Libertas medals are truly enormous. Just to give the forum an idea, I took a picture with a Washington quarter to show the scale.
