Will this coin straight grade at PCGS? If so what grade? Would this coin benefit from conservation? Thanks for looking.

    It probably would (although I’m not sure what’s going on with UNUM) and I’d grade it VF35 or XF40. It’s not worth submitting though. A type 1 in that condition is only worth $70 and the holder isn’t going to make a difference as there is very little price spread in VF-AU grades.

    The coin looks original, and that's a good thing. It's also struck well for a 13-S TY-I. Note the nicely rendered top feather and LIBERTY. Minor rim ding between the R and T of LIBERTY. It has been clashed, but that does not detract from the grade.

    The coin is at the least an XF-45. Judging from the amount to wear between the tail and the hip, it is probably an AU-50.

    Anyway, that's my take.

    I don't think conservation would apply here. It should straight grade. It's just dirty.

    I agree with Pete. It also has a nice, strong clash on both obverse and reverse-that's what's goin' on with EPU. I believe that's a clash from the field adjacent to the junction of the Native American's jaw and neck as seen below-

    The rim at 2 o'clock is the only thing that concerns me. Our hosts may call that damage. I haven't had any experience sending coins to them in over a decade, so I don't know for sure. Good luck on whatever you decide to do!

    I can't tell if the surface are just dirty, as suggested, or exhibit minor pitting.
    My grade is lower, squeaking by at XF40.
    If you NEED it to be slabbed, no harm in trying...but as david suggests, it may not be economically prudent to do so.

    from the picture I thought XF40 and if it was me it would stay raw with no attempt to help it.

    I am at 35 on that one and would not submit it although it would probably straight grade. I agree with @Hallco about the ding at 2 o'clock, but think it would still pass.
