NEWP NGC 2.1 1947 walking liberty half (GOLD CAC)

I met Jeff @DRUNNER at a local coin show back in 2016. I had recently acquired a Peace Dollar Doily and Jeff really new his stuff about old holders. Ever since are talk then I have been on the hunt for an example of the elusive NGC 2.1 holder Preceded only by the infamous NGC Black holder.
I was on Ebay browsing Walking Liberty half dollars and happen to come across a ten day auction for a nice 1947 half in a 2.1 holder with the auction starting at $99. I immediately Messaged the seller to see if they would sell it for $175. They quickly replied and wanted to see how the auction would play out. So I waited for what seems like forever. When the auction had about an hour left I kept refreshing my browser every few minutes. still no bids at that point. So I ended up winning the auction for $99 shipped. I wont tell you what my max bid was but it was higher than the $175 I had offered earlier in the week.
call me crazy! but I love the history of the TPG companies especially the Major ones PCGS NGC.

Super eye appeal! Love the holder too!
It looks gem to me.
Very nice. Slabs have come a "long way baby" since that one.
I love that generation of NGC slab. I have always wanted one and they are getting harder and harder to find. Not all of them have nice coins for the grade inside but yours certainly looks good. Congratulations.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

Looks like a nice Walker to go along with the scarce holder. Congrats!
I had that on my watch list and was watching it with an hour left. Planned on bidding then lost track of time and missed the end of the auction. Was kicking myself thinking I could’ve had it for $99, was gonna bid $125. At least now I know I probably wouldn’t have won it anyway

Nice coin and what strikes me is the condition of the holder. Looks pristine.
Sweet !!!
Man am I jealous!! I've been on the hunt for one of those too. Been too busy lately to keep looking at eBay. Just shows the old saying is true. "If you snooze, you lose."
Absolutely sweet pick and in my book "You Suck"!
Wow, I’d pay $176. LOL!
Nice score.
Nice WLH....I have a couple of those old NGC holders, at least one, but I think more...next time I am going through my slabs I will take notes. I am not a slab collector, but over the years have accumulated a variety. Cheers, RickO

Terrific coin... For some reason, the 1947 has been alittle more difficult in GEM than others from the 1940s.
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
Superb holder and coin. Yes . . . . the Doily has a bit of a cachet, but mainly because there are just enough of them for most holder afficionados to get the ones they desire. Not so with the NGC 2.1/2.0. Far and away rarer. This is a nice piece. A few may always venture out from Gramp's safety deposit box . . . . but the pops on these rise ever so slowly . . . .

Nice. Right label, wrong holder.
Get it a gold bean.
Wow..Conder! That's a name I haven't heard it what seems like forever! Lol
Yep CAC Gold might bring more than MS 65 money
