    I will keep errors I may find... however, I do not seek them out on the market. That one is interesting... almost makes me want to open my roll of '43 steel cents... who knows? I may have a treasure within.... Cheers, RickO

    Looks like roughly 90 degrees. The second strike is rotated clockwise to the first strike.

    Ok I'll bite, what is a "rested" cent? Did PCGS do the replating as a conservation method? I see that the slab indicates "not gradable" and that means as is to me, so I chose #1. Peace Roy

    Seems like #1 is in unacceptable, conservation is needed.

    My reprocessing test on a non-error 1943 steel cent with similar small corrosion spots came out fantastic! Clean BU steel.

    Now should I replate it with zinc or leave as is with a light coat of oil. ????

    NOW, what to do with the erorr?

    First of all, I also like the coin even though it was messed with. Overpriced in my mind, but OK if someone valued it more.

    Second, back in the late 70s when I worked in a plating lab, I reprocessed about a roll of rusting 43 cents as they were too far gone to be useful. All were circulated.

    What did I do? I stripped the zinc off with hydrochloric acid - takes about 30 seconds. While the surface was clean and active I then plated them with copper in a miniature barrel plater on a lab bench. They came out too shiny so I simply let them sit around to oxidize a bit.
