I can't seem to find any price history on this Silver Eagle error

Maybe I am just looking in the wrong places.

I have this PCGS MS-68 1987 SE with a Rim-Clip at 7:30.

    I guess I am thinking along the lines as those above. If it is that rare then actual price history might not exist.

    I believe errors on billion are uncommon, especially as they relate to missing metal (making them underweight).

    Agreed. You probably won't see too much price history with these unless you have the sales history for this exact coin. I haven't seen too many ASE clips, but they're around.

    Maybe @seanq will have more information for you. He's a clip guy. I'm thinking it's worth at least $150 or a little more..... but see what he says.

    You can always put it in an ebay auction and set a comfortable reserve to see where the market is standing.

    I've seen strike thru's and laminations and have never have seen a clip Why not check if any of the major services have slabbed one. Also call Mr. Weinberg as he may know how scarce these are.

    Perhaps the SAE will be the exception but clip errors never seem to be bring exponential premiums. I am thinking $75-$100 on this coin.

    And this does not have the error PCGS number (E9808), but the standard number so I suspect it is listed as a MS68 in the pop reports.

    I can show you 25 1987 Silver Eagles listed as errors in the PCGS database, most are struck on sanding discs.

    The other point is, on such an unusual error there may be no price. If you sell yours then we'll know what it is worth. ;)

    I have seen a couple, One dated 1986 and another from the early 1990s that is in a friends collection. So it’s not unheard of but is certainly unusual. I don’t know what either of the aforementioned coins sold for, but as you would imagine the market is pretty thin. I think in a well designed online auction you could easily get north of $100 for it, I know I’d be a strong player around that price.
