    there is another term, kind of like broadstruck and related to die caps but can't think of it just now.

    Struck on a planchet that did not go through the upsetting process? (Since it was too big to fit in the collar it was also technically broadstruck/struck outside of the collar).

    Ahh, you edited your answer to be the correct answer which obviously would be ...... Large Broadstruck on a Type 1 Planchet. Extremely Rare.

    At one point someone was keeping track of iconic sites or monuments depicted on the state quarters that had been destroyed after being shown on the quarters, NH/Old Man of the Mountain was one, and CT/the tree was another.

    At the risk of stating the obvious... If a guy is transporting an 1804 dollar in that pouch/thong, something else will be 'out of collar'....

    it still looks too big - I would check the weight as I suspect it is struck on a foreign planchet. I would also think some of the copper core would be seen around the periphery.
