Time for an entertaining Fantasy AUCTION for the 1854-S!

Here is the game:
The coin is being auctioned and is on the Heritage site. That's where I believe the current high bid can be found. Let's get in on the action here. The winner will be the high bidder who enters the last bid that is one increment BELOW the final winning bid.
IMPORTANT: This is a moving auction. You'll want to get the coin at the lowest price. Tradedollar was out bid at $1,100,000. I'll start the fantasy bid at $1,200,000 which makes me high bidder at this moment. Wanna play?

I’m in at 1.8M.
2.4M hammer

This is not a guess the final price game as that thread has already run.
So, either lower your bid to above 1.8 million (Colonialcoin) or you have bid 2.4 million. That makes you the high bidder in this game so far. If it goes for less, the laugh will be on you!
1.85
I’m dead certain it will bring more
Hummm. I know what that mean.

...you can tell this to anyone here except pretty much him...that wasn't a guess bro; it was his bid...that's the way he rolls baby and I LOVE IT
I’m all about nuclear bids
Until he responds, I disagree. He already placed AN ACTUAL BID of $1,000,000 in the REAL AUCTION. He was out bid. If you are correct, Tradedollar is the high bidder in this thread.
OK, he responded. The Fantasy bid is now 2.4 Million and Tradedollar is the high bidder.
I guess I don’t understand the game. I thought you wanted us to bid one increment below what we thought it would sell for. I did that
Nope, This is just like a regular auction for those of us who can't afford a coin as this. Let's void your max bid and right now the high bid belongs to Colonialcoin at1.8 million. You are now free to raise that bid to any amount you wish.
The idea is to be the highest bid in the game that turns out to be just below the winning bid (Forget the auction's added cut) without going over.
PS It's nice to have the "Big Guys" playing.
PPS Eventually this Fantasy auction will be over well before the actual sale. Soon the "jokers" will chime in with plenty of over-bids.
$8,525,000!!!
(JUST KIDDING)

1.9 million.
$2.1 million.... Cheers, RickO
@ricko is top bidder so far. If he is not over the actual winning bid it must be getting close. Someone is going to look silly in the end. That's the fun of it.
According to the opinion of a knowledgeable buyer in this thread, there is still a little more room to bid but be careful.
2.2 million. I like pretending to be rich.
I like pretending to be rich also.
Yours is the high bid so far. Hopefully, it will not be too much. Remember not to add any of the auction house %.
Right.
Bob Simpson always told me on coins like this, why would I want to buy a coin for over $1 million that looks like it was in someones pocket
the buyer will be a big collector, cant see any investor buying a circ coin for the reasons above. I this case, I fully believe there are 2-3 real players who could make a go.
My guess $1.6
This is such a moving auction.....Pepto couldn't move it better!
My bid is $1,418,000. payable in Oreo cookies with a side of cold milk.
Interesting. Are you saying that Simpson is more investor than collector? Or is this just another one of those foot in mouth moments?

You have been OUTBID. 1.6 is the new high bid w/o the extra stuff and we are creeping up to Tradedollar's original guess.
REMEMBER go over the hammer price and you are a goat. Anyone can bid high and go over the actual bid.
Too bad the coin is in a slab. If I won it, I would constantly pick it up and "finger it" admiringly for a few hours while eating dinner. A little grease might make it more attractive. Then, I'd put it away for good (unless put on public display). It is just a circulated $5 Liberty to me.
You're right. It's expensive dreck with no sticker to boot!

I'll guess $1.75-$2.25 million all in.
Are you planning to pursue this above your publicized $1 million bid?
That would make Brent Pogue's day... I think that is more than he wanted for his AU58+.
My bid is $1,418,000. payable in Oreo cookies with a side of cold milk.
Naw.... Impossible to outbid Oreos and milk. Plus I think that's about what the coin will bring. We'll see.
$8,525,000 was the jump hammer bid on the 1794 Specimen Dollar that put it over $10 Million and ultimately won setting the new record.
= = = = = =
My hammer bid is $2.3 million, which is the next increment over Smudge's 2.2 mil. Meaning I am guessing the real auction will stop at 2,4 hammer.
The rules have a lot of people confused and they are guessing the direct result outright like most price guessing threads. As I understand it, this was intended to run like an auction with guesses in sequence of hammer bid increments with people having to wait until their guess amount came next. And that amount being "one increment BELOW the final winning bid".
A little confusing, but an interesting way of doing a guess the amount thread.

New high bid: "My hammer bid is $2.3 million,"
Wouldn't be something if you can just use this fantasy hammer for the 1854-S $5 Half Eagle

It's in your safe by now
...anyone who answers this question before hammer, shouldn't be allowed to have money
It goes to show that there really are dumb questions. I'm not sure what I was thinking when I posted that. You're right.
2.5 hammered
New high bid.
Winner of the Fantasy auction will not go over the winning bid and will be either under it or hit it on the nose.
You know what @Insider2 ...I quit
This fantasy doesn't do anything for me

I am so confuse by now....
You know all about auctions already. It's like Ebay. We'll miss you.
