Nope, I don’t know anyone in my area. I suppose maybe I have friends that collect coins but no one has ever volunteered that information and no one posts any photos on Facebook or anything so who knows!

@CuKevin and I were friends with in high school then we figured out we both collected coins and lived near each other. I also have Summer Seminar friends I talk to daily/weekly.

    Partner @Gold Hill Coin

  • I don't really know anyone personally. Other than the older gentleman at one of the local shops here in San Antonii, that's about it so far. He knows is stuff and has been very helpful, fair and honest.
    He's a good dude.

Come on guys!! Join a local club. It's a great to make some friends and learn things as well.

Although I must say , we just recently moved out of state and I joined 2 local clubs. As much as the clubs seem to need new members I did not feel overly welcome. So now even though in still a new guy, anytime there is a newer guy. I make sure to say hi and welcome. I enjoy coins so there is no detering me, however others may not be as passionate

So. Join a club , and say hi to the new guy!!!

Yup, a local Island braddah. Whenever we meet, be it his place or mine, we break from the party du jour and ‘show-n-tell’ coins. Before I moved to Hawaii five years ago, he sent me a VF Hawaiian quarter as a welcome aboard gift. Very ‘aloha’. We are such coin geeks...not too long ago we were surfing and in the line-up between sets we were talking about how cheap $2 1/2 and $5 Indians have become.

Two weeks from tomorrow the Upper Midwest Barber Boys will be meeting. Our good friend Lenny from Florida will also be joining us. Vern, Doug, Milo, Alex and myself will be there for a great show and tell. I’m lucky to be a member

Yes, I have a coin buddy and he is still trying to figure out this whole full step Jefferson and Jefferson variety thing!

I live in the Los Angeles area, so one would expect that there would be several coin clubs around, and hopefully one close to me. I only found one of significance and it's about an hour away with no traffic. They are having a show 8/24 and 25. They have a website www.nasc.net for anyone in the Southern California area. Hopefully I can meet a coin buddy.

    Several:

My mentor now in his mid 80s - he no longer collects per se. I acquired most of his collection since he retired.

One buddy travels to Canada coin shows with me.

One buddy shares tables with me at the local CT shows.

And the 3 or 4 of us who get together for the annual NYINC trip.

I really wish that I did have one. I am new here and to the hobby and spend most of my coin time trying to learn. This board has been a tremendous resource and sometimes kinda think of most all of you as a buddy.

But not Col. Jessup. He scares me.

I'm going to ANA next week with (for me) is a formidable shopping list and wads of cash. Sometimes I wish that I had a trusted fellow collector who can tell me when I'm about to make a stupid mistake.

I used to have a couple of coin buddies who I would meet up with at shows all the time. But I haven't attended a coin show in several years and just sort of lost contact with the one guy. The other one - MFH from the forums here - died over a year ago. :(

I thought about trying to befriend @DIMEMAN because MFH always spoke highly of him, but as I said ... I haven't attended a show in several years, let alone a larger regional show that would necessitate traveling.

My current coin collecting interests are: (1) British coins 1838-1970 in XF-AU-UNC, (2) silver type coins in XF-AU with that classic medium gray coloration and exceptional eye appeal.

I would love to be anybody's coin buddy...…..I sure miss my dear friend Mike. :'(
