Have ...YOU... brought anyone into the coin hobby?

This is directed to the COLLECTORS. MANY dealers have and that's not unusual.
I'm just curious how many of us have brought a newcomer into numismatics.
Have ...YOU... brought anyone into the coin hobby?

I've tried to introduce the idea and concept for their future plan but NO....and as a matter of fact they thought I am an old soul .....told them to grow up
I’d like to think that I influenced my younger brother and younger cousin. They are no longer active as far as I know, however. My brother is raising a family and not sure what my cousin has been up to.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

I have introduced people to the hobby with mixed results as far them as staying with it or deciding that it wasn’t for them.
Yes, I have. I brought in my brother in law and he loves it as much as I do. I do believe he will stay with it.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
I've tried to no success.
Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value. Zero. Voltaire. Ebay coinbowlllc
I've tried. When I explain to them the plastic and sticker mania, that is usually the end of it though. They usually lose interest at that point. "And that little sticker is worth how much?..."

I....TRIED to tell you she would look up a silver dollar dated 1804, mister!
I believe coin collectors are an endangered species, following the path of stamp collectors. Oops. Shouldn't have said that.
The pardon is for tyrants. They like to declare pardons on holidays, such as the birthday of the dictator, or Christ, or the Revolution. Dictators should be encouraged to keep it up. And we should be encouraged to remember that the promiscuous dispensation of clemency is not a sign of political liberality. It is instead one of those valuable, identifying marks of tyranny.

Nope
No, but not for lack of trying.
I voted for yes, but they quit quickly. Can't really say that they've actually quit, more like they just haven't turned out to be as avid for the hobby as I am. They'll still go with me occasionally to shows, but I think it's mostly just because I'm so fun to hang out with..... they just buy a little silver, or gold, or another friend will buy something from the bargain bins, you know stuff like that- but I really do enjoy not going alone.
Nope.
I don't try very hard. Close friends and family know I'm the coin collector. Nobody has ever approached me about an interest in starting a collection. I don't feel the need to push it on them.
The only one whom I've made a conscious effort to recruit into collecting is my wife. She does not have the bug, but she humors me. My kids are young, there may still be time for them.
Yes I have. My wife actually. When i first got into coins she thought it was a little strange more so because I don't think she knew that much about it. But now she loves all things seated especially dimes. She loves anything thays rainbow toned (sorry ricko) hehe and she loves obsolete currency and fractional as well. So I've turned her into a coin and currency monster she loves it and I love being a part of it with her
HAPPY COLLECTING
I came close. My buddy Jerry S., a 20+ Year colleague and friend. One evening, while at my house, I broke out some coins and we ran a few boxes, he was like WOW, I knew you were into coins, but I didn’t know you were this into it. He agreed to meet me in Orlando one year for FUN, as it was close for him being from Atlanta. We had a ball, he really liked the hobo nickels and he hung with those guys long enough to buy all the tools etc. I think he would have made something cool, but soon after he got into sculpting with glass and that took his interest some.....he passed away suddenly in 2016.
I can say, I’ve gotten a few people to notice gold and silver bullion, but not any real numismatic converts.
No... Not for lack of trying though... I do not hide my coin hobby, and have discussed it with many over the years... but none of the family or friends 'caught the bug'... Cheers, RickO
Nope. My Grandfather got me hooked on coins. My cousins and brothers never had much of an interest other than it was cool if someone gave them something. I've shared my interest in coins with others, but it never goes anywhere.

I’m growing my replacement in our hobby, my grandson. He started at age four and has stayed with it so far at age ten. Time will tell but if he stays interested he’ll end up with a nice set of half/one/two cents.
