eBay question

What happens if you find a coin that is EGREGIOUSLY underpriced on a BIN?

I would THINK they could cancel the sale...but ...who knows?

Dang coins. >:)

Buy it, then depending on how you feel either tell the seller you bought it to protect them and tell them what it's actually worth or don't and hope that they actually ship it.

They can always cancel the sale, but eBay gives them a strike if there is not a valid reason.

By the way, I have no idea how many eBay "strikes" it takes before you are out.

  • topstuftopstuf Posts: 14,803 ✭✭✭✭✭

It's strange. Major player and too many contradictions on their page.

I'm sure it would be a real hassle. :D

There are a lot of counterfeits sold on ebay where a buyer thinks they are getting a bargain.

If uncertified I would assume it was a counterfeit.

  • LindeDadLindeDad Posts: 18,766 ✭✭✭✭✭

Bought a couple to save friends and emailed them to cancel and relist at right price.
BTW there are no strikes against the seller if the buyer requests the cancel.

Okay, say it is a piece of PCGS 64 PR64 pre-33 gold for less than $2,500.

Oh what the hell. Nobody's gonna get to buy it anyway.

Maybe a cut-and-paste mistake in the title or the description. Or the wrong template. Or the wrong photos. Or they mistakenly clicked "sell similar".

Lots of ways to screw-up an ebay listing.

And they said in their "Chat" that all the certified coins are individual and not "stock" pix. :o

Was there a thread a while back discussing they don't send the coin in the photo?

I had someone sell me a WWII era designated cameo Lincoln for $150 that was worth about $500. I quickly flipped it for a nice little profit.

a population 1 coin in Legends auction later this month

I contacted them asking how they can sell a coin that is in a major auction later this month, and got this (not sure what it means)....

Thank you for contacting APMEX. This item would be APMEX website exclusive at this time. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

APMEX ok for bullion - I continue to buy from them.
APMEX messed up for coins - I won't buy from them.

If you change the title of your thread to include APMEX you will get some further feedback from people who have dealt with their nonsense.
